Job Description: Database Performance Consultant (Part time Contract)

Experience: 7+ Years

Duration: 1–3 Months (Immediate Start)

Stack: AWS RDS (PostgreSQL/MySQL/Aurora)

Project Context

DoctusTech is re-architecting a core US Healthcare production system. Our data is currently ~300GB and projected to exceed 1TB within 12 months. We need a specialized Database Performance Engineer to audit our current state and design the "Version 2.0" architecture to ensure sub-second latency at scale.

Scope of Work & Deliverables

The consultant will be responsible for providing high-impact technical documentation and implementation guidance:

Performance Audit: Complete analysis of current RDS bottlenecks, locking issues, and deadlocks.

Optimization Roadmap: Detailed recommendations for query refactoring and execution plan improvements.

Scalability Design: Implementation of Partitioning strategies, Indexing overhauls, and Schema refactoring for high-volume datasets.





Data Lifecycle Plan: Design strategies for archival and cold storage to maintain performance as data grows.

Implementation Support: Collaborative coding/review with backend teams during the system rewrite.

Required Technical Expertise

RDS Specialist: 7+ years of deep experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Amazon Aurora within the AWS ecosystem.

Scale Veteran: Proven track record of managing and optimizing databases exceeding 500GB–1TB.

Query Scientist: Mastery of execution plans, index optimization, and troubleshooting query contention/deadlocks.

AWS Tools: Expert-level use of CloudWatch and Performance Insights to drive data-backed tuning.

Nice to Have: Experience with Redis caching and event-driven architectures in a SaaS environment.
