Roles & Responsibilities - Fashion / Ethnic Wear Brand

Position Overview

The Demand & Merchandise Planner will be responsible for forecasting product demand, planning inventory, deciding production quantities, and ensuring the right products are available at the right time to maximize sales while minimizing dead stock.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Demand Forecasting & Planning
- Analyze historical sales, market trends, seasonality, and customer demand patterns.
- Forecast demand category-wise, style-wise, size-wise, and color-wise.
- Plan monthly, seasonal, festive, and launch-wise product requirements.
- Identify rapid-moving and slow-moving products.

Merchandise Planning
- Decide product mix and assortment planning for various sales channels.
- Plan collection depth, repeat styles, and fresh launches.
- Maintain optimum inventory levels across categories.
- Coordinate with design and merchandising teams for collection planning.

Production Planning Coordination
- Decide production quantities based on demand forecast and stock position.




- Coordinate with production teams regarding manufacturing timelines.
- Ensure timely replenishment of fast-selling products.
- Help reduce stock-outs and overproduction.

Inventory Management
- Monitor inventory ageing and dead stock.
- Plan liquidation strategies for slow-moving inventory.
- Improve inventory turnover ratio and working capital efficiency.
- Track warehouse stock availability.

Sales & Data Analysis
- Prepare weekly and monthly sales analysis reports.
- Monitor sell-through performance of products.
- Analyze marketplace, ecommerce, and retail sales trends.
- Recommend actions based on data insights.

Cross Functional Coordination
- Work closely with:
- Design Team
- Merchandising Team
- Production Team
- Ecommerce Team
- Warehouse & Dispatch Team
- Finance Team

Reporting & MIS
- Maintain forecasting sheets, planning dashboards, and inventory reports.
