Job Purpose

To ensure smooth, accurate, and timely movement of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods across the plant, supporting uninterrupted production while maintaining inventory accuracy and safety.

Key Responsibilities

1. Inward Material Movement

Coordinate receipt of raw materials, bought-out parts, and consumables.

Verify material against PO, invoice, and delivery challan.

Ensure proper unloading, tagging, and storage as per FIFO / FEFO.

2. Internal Material Movement (Plant Logistics)

Issue materials to production as per BOM and production plan.

Manage movement of WIP between processes (CNC, casting, forging, heat treatment).

Ensure line feeding and point-of-use availability.

3. Finished Goods Movement

Coordinate packing, staging, and dispatch of finished goods.

Ensure correct quantity, labeling, and documentation.

Support on-time customer dispatch.

4. Inventory Control & Accuracy

Maintain real-time inventory in ERP / SAP / Tally / ERPNext.

Conduct cycle counts and physical stock verification.

Control excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory.

Documentation & Compliance

Prepare and maintain GRN, material issue slips, stock registers, and transfer notes.

Ensure traceability and batch / heat-wise tracking (where applicable).

Follow ISO / IATF / safety procedures.

6. Material Handling Equipment (MHE)

Plan and control usage of forklifts, cranes, pallet trucks, trolleys, and conveyors.

Ensure secure handling of heavy, hot, or hazardous materials.

Coordinate maintenance of MHE with engineering team.

7. Coordination & Communication

Coordinate with Purchase, Production, Quality, Stores, and Dispatch teams.

Support production planning by ensuring material availability.

Resolve material shortages and movement bottlenecks.

8. Continuous Improvement & Safety

Implement 5S, FIFO lanes, and layout improvements.

Reduce material handling time and damage.

Ensure safety compliance during material movement.
