Qualifications and Technical Requirements
Industry Knowledge
- 5-8 years of experience in the shipping industry
- Robust knowledge of shipping operations
- Familiarity with depot/CSF operations, including reefer containers
- Strong focus on cost management
- Vendor management experience preferred
Business Systems / IT
- Awareness of the importance of data quality
- Good knowledge of systems such as SAP, FIS, MS Office (Word, Excel)
- Ability to support process optimization and system improvements
- Ability to process data and requests efficiently under pressure
- Understanding of data quality benchmarking and management
Responsibilities
Planning and Steering of Equipment
- Support the manager in arranging imbalance moves in a timely manner
- Review and compare depot inventories and equipment requirements, including pick-up status
- Enter manual equipment movements not received via EDI
- Post equipment movements and verify/correct EDI-received transactions
- Announce and confirm export positioning depots; send release messages to terminals/depots
- Arrange stock feeding/deadheading requests by creating 'œMT'
- (empty) bookings
- Coordinate with M&R; regarding access to repaired equipment
- Handle errors, troubleshoot issues, and communicate with relevant stakeholders
- Create empty shipments for movements across Hapag-Lloyd (India operations)
- Monitor and clear overdue empty containers
- Arrange off-hire movements to leasing company depots
- Reconcile depot inventory for empty units
Support Tasks
- Verify accuracy of containers linked to shipments
- Liaise with Area/other location offices, depot personnel, and ED teams to resolve M&R; issues
