OT Staff Nurse - Gynecology & Pediatrics

OT In-Charge / Nursing Superintendent

Job Summary:
The OT Staff Nurse (Gynecology & Pediatrics) is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care in the operation theatre by assisting in surgical procedures, maintaining aseptic techniques, ensuring patient safety, and supporting surgeons and anesthetists during gynecological and pediatric surgeries.

Key Responsibilities:1. Pre-Operative Care
- Prepare OT for scheduled gynecology and pediatric surgeries.
- Ensure availability and sterility of instruments, equipment, and consumables.
- Verify patient identity, consent forms, and pre-operative checklist.
- Assist in patient preparation and positioning.

2. Intra-Operative Care
- Assist surgeons during procedures such as C-section, hysterectomy, D&C;, laparoscopy, and pediatric surgeries.
- Maintain strict aseptic and sterile techniques.
- Perform roles of scrub nurse and circulating nurse.




- Monitor patient condition in coordination with anesthetist.
- Maintain accurate counts of instruments, sponges, and needles.

3. Post-Operative Care
- Assist in protected transfer of patients to recovery room.
- Monitor immediate post-operative condition.
- Handover patient details to recovery/ward staff.
- Ensure proper documentation of procedures and care provided.

4. Infection Control & Safety
- Adhere to infection control protocols and OT sterilization standards.
- Ensure biomedical waste segregation as per guidelines.
- Maintain OT hygiene, safety, and discipline.
- Use PPE as required.

5. Equipment & Inventory Management
- Ensure proper functioning of OT equipment.
- Report equipment issues immediately.
- Maintain adequate stock of OT supplies and emergency drugs.
- Assist in inventory control and material indents.

6. Coordination & Communication
- Coordinate with surgeons, anesthetists, pediatrician
