Sambhavna Trust Clinic, Bhopal Needs Socially Committed Pediatrician for 3 months

Sambhavna is a registered public charitable trust set up in June 1995. Its primary objective is welfare ofthe victims of the Union Carbide disaster in Bhopal (and those poisoned by chemical wastes from the factory) through medical care, research, health education and information dissemination.

Sambhavna started the Sambhavna Trust Clinic in September 1996 close to the severely affected communities. More than 37, 800 chronically ill persons have been registered for treatment through up-to-date medicine, Ayurveda and Yoga with very encouraging results. In addition to medical care, the clinic also carries out health surveys to identify long-term effects of the disaster, conducts health education exercises in the communities and runs a documentation centre that collects and distributes information on the disaster.

For its path breaking work in a chemically exposed population the Trust has received national and international awards.



All funds required to run the Sambhavna Trust Clinic come from individual donations from India, UK, USA and other countries.

Community Health Surveyors (CHS) of Sambhavna have identified persons with visible congenital malformations. We wish to appoint a Pediatrician, to examine the persons identified by the CHS and provide a certificate regarding the person having (or not) congenital malformation.

Specifically, we are looking for a person with
- MBBS with post graduate degree/diploma in Pediatrics.
- At least 3 years’ experience of independently seeing patients including those with congenital malformations.
- Knowledge of spoken Hindi.

Additionally, the following would be desirable:
- Experience and/or demonstrated interest in epidemiological research.
- Involvement with or exposure to socially and economically disadvantaged communities.
- Computer literacy and familiarity with statistical packages.
