Senior Consultant – Test Automation

Location: Pune, India

Model of Work: Hybrid

The Senior Consultant - Test Automation plays a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining automated test scripts and frameworks. This role involves hands?on automation work, active participation in Agile teams, and contributing to improving overall test quality and efficiency. The consultant is expected to work independently on assignments while supporting junior team members.

Responsibilities

- Develop, enhance, and maintain automated test scripts for new and existing functionalities.
- Contribute to the design and improvement of test automation frameworks and tools.
- Own and evolve the test automation framework/architecture, setting standards other engineers follow.
- Serve as the escalation point for complex automation failures and flaky-test root-causing that junior engineers or automation tooling can't resolve.
- Collaborate with support team, project team, and QA team members to clarify requirements and ensure test coverage.
- Execute automated regression suites and analyze test failures, providing detailed defect reports
- Review and refactor test scripts to adhere to best coding practices and maintainability.
- Validate and sign off on automation test coverage and quality before release
- Use and manage test management and defect tracking tools like JIRA.
- Identify testing gaps, risks, and bottlenecks, and propose solutions.
- Support continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines using tools such as Maven, Jenkins, and Docker.




- Partnership with CI/CD or DevOps leads on pipeline strategy
- Mentor and actively develop junior/mid-level automation engineers
- Maintain clear and organized test artifacts, documentation, and reports.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

- Candidate must possess at least a bachelor’s degree, Post Graduate Diploma, Professional Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics or equivalent
- 4+ years of experience in test automation using Playwright and Selenium, with solid Java programming skills.
- Solid hands?on knowledge of automation concepts, scripting standards, and framework structures.
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Maven, Jenkins, and Docker.
- Good experience with JavaScript and PL/SQL (Oracle) is an advantage.
- Good understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive testing mindset.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross?functional teams.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills

- Advanced proficiency in test automation tools (Playwright, Selenium) and Java
- Advanced proficiency in test case management tools like TestRail, Jira (Zephyr)
- Familiarity with Agile processes and working knowledge of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and Maven.
- Good analytical skills and attention to detail
- Advanced proficiency with Claude Code – prompt engineering, predictive analysis, and code optimization
