About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Economist to join our Institutional Equities Research team. The candidate will be responsible for developing an independent view on the Indian and global macroeconomic environment, forecasting key economic variables, and translating macroeconomic developments into actionable investment insights.
The role requires robust expertise in macroeconomic research, economic forecasting, monetary and fiscal policy, financial markets, and investment strategy .
Key Responsibilities
1. Macroeconomic Research & Analysis
Develop independent views on the Indian and global economic outlook .
Analyse GDP growth, inflation, interest rates, liquidity, employment, consumption, investment, industrial activity, trade and fiscal indicators.
Identify key macroeconomic trends, risks and opportunities impacting financial markets.
Monitor global developments and assess their implications for India.
2. Economic Forecasting & Modelling
Develop and maintain macroeconomic forecasting models.
Forecast GDP, CPI/WPI inflation, interest rates, liquidity, currency and other key economic indicators.
Conduct scenario analysis and stress testing around key macro variables.
Continuously evaluate and update forecasts based on incoming data and policy developments.
3. Monetary & Fiscal Policy
Closely track RBI monetary policy, Government policies, Union Budget and fiscal developments .
Analyse policy decisions and assess their impact on growth, inflation, liquidity and financial markets.
Develop timely research notes around major policy announcements.
Provide an independent assessment of policy direction and its market implications.
4. Investment & Market Strategy




Translate macroeconomic views into actionable investment and market insights .
Analyse the impact of macroeconomic trends on equities, fixed income, currencies and commodities.
Identify sectors and themes likely to benefit from or be impacted by changing economic conditions.
Work closely with the Institutional Equities research and strategy teams to incorporate macro views into sector and company analysis.
5. Research Publications
Lead preparation of Macro Outlooks, Economic Reports, Strategy Notes, Thematic Reports and Policy Analysis .
Publish regular views on the economy and financial markets.
Prepare pre- and post-event analysis for key economic data releases.
Develop differentiated research views supported by data and robust economic analysis.
6. Institutional Client Engagement
Present economic views and investment themes to institutional investors, fund managers and clients .
Participate in investor meetings, conferences, webinars and client calls.
Address client queries on macroeconomic developments and market outlook.
Build credibility and visibility as a subject-matter expert in economics and strategy.
7. Data & Quantitative Analysis
Analyse large datasets to identify economic trends and relationships.
Maintain databases of macroeconomic and financial indicators.
Use statistical and quantitative techniques to support economic forecasts.
Ensure research is data-driven, accurate and timely.
8. Leadership & Collaboration
Work closely with senior leadership and the Institutional Equities team on macro and investment strategy.
Provide macro inputs to sector analysts and research teams.




Mentor junior research professionals where required.
Contribute to the development of differentiated research products and investment themes.
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong understanding of Indian macroeconomics and financial markets .
Deep knowledge of monetary and fiscal policy.
Strong economic forecasting and modelling capabilities.
Ability to connect macroeconomic developments with market and sector implications.
Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
Excellent research and report-writing abilities.
Strong presentation and institutional client communication skills.
Ability to develop independent and differentiated economic views.
Strong proficiency in Excel and economic/statistical analysis tools.
Ability to work under tight deadlines and deliver high-quality research.
Preferred Background
Candidates with experience in:
Institutional Equity / Macro Research
Brokerage / Sell-side Research
Asset Management / PMS / AIF
Investment Banking / Financial Institutions
Banks / Treasury / Economic Research
Economic Consulting / Research Institutions
Policy Research / Think Tanks
will be preferred.
Educational Qualification
MA / MSc – Economics
MBA / PGDM – Finance / Economics
CA with strong exposure to macroeconomics and financial markets
Candidates from reputed institutes with strong academic credentials will be preferred.
Experience
6+ years of relevant experience in Economics Research, Macro Research, Strategy, Financial Research or a closely related field.
