JOB DESCRIPTION

Costing & Inventory Control Accountant
n
Location: India
n
n
Job Purpose
n
The Costing & Inventory Control Accountant will be responsible for inventory monitoring, product costing, inventory valuation, reconciliations and margin analysis . The role will work closely with Finance, Warehouse, Procurement, Logistics and Sales to ensure accurate inventory records, effective controls and timely identification of inventory and costing issues.

Key Responsibilities
n
Inventory Control & Monitoring
n
n
- Monitor inventory across warehouses and locations and review all stock movements.
n
- Reconcile physical stock, warehouse records and ERP balances.
n
- Investigate inventory discrepancies, unusual movements and negative stock.
n
- Coordinate periodic physical stock counts and cycle counts.
n
- Monitor inventory ageing, slow-moving and obsolete stock.
n
- Prepare recommendations for inventory adjustments, provisions and write-offs.
n
n
Costing & Inventory Valuation
n
n
- Maintain accurate product/SKU costing.
n
- Calculate and monitor landed costs, including freight, customs, clearing and handling charges.
n
- Review purchase price and other cost variances.
n
- Ensure inventory is accurately valued and costs are properly allocated.
n
- Analyse product-wise gross margins and identify significant margin movements.
n
n
Month-End & Reconciliations
n
n
- Reconcile inventory sub-ledger to the General Ledger.
n
- Review GRNs,
goods received but not invoiced and inventory cut-off.
n
- Complete inventory and costing schedules for month-end closing.
n
- Support accurate COGS and gross-margin reporting.
n
- Prepare supporting schedules for auditors.
n
n
ERP & Controls
n
n
- Ensure inventory transactions and master data are accurately maintained in the ERP.
n
- Monitor compliance with inventory control and approval procedures.
n
- Identify process/system weaknesses and recommend improvements.
n
- Support inventory and costing processes in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central .
n
n
Qualifications & Experience
n
n
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
n
- 3–6 years of relevant experience in cost accounting, inventory accounting or inventory control.
n
- Experience in a trading, distribution or manufacturing environment preferred.
n
- Strong knowledge of inventory accounting, costing and reconciliations.
n
- Experience with landed costing is preferred.
n
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central experience is an advantage.
n
- Strong Excel skills.
n
- ACCA, CMA, CA or equivalent qualification is an advantage.
n
n
