Role Description

n

The Principal is the highest academic and administrative leader of the BCA/MCA school or college. They are responsible for providing strategic direction, ensuring the delivery of high-quality technical education, fostering an environment of research and innovation, and overseeing the holistic development of IT students.

Key Responsibilities n

1. Academic & Technical Leadership

n

- Vision & Curriculum: Develop and implement an academic vision that aligns with the rapidly changing trends in computer science, software engineering, and IT.
n
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all academic delivery meets the rigorous standards set by regulatory bodies (such as UGC, AICTE, and the affiliated university) and accreditation agencies (like NAAC or NBA).
n
- Research & Innovation: Promote research initiatives, technical publications, and hackathons among students and faculty members.
n

2. Institutional Administration

n

- Operations & Budgeting: Oversee the day-to-day logistical operations, financial management, and annual budgeting for the institution.
n
- Infrastructure Management: Ensure that critical technical infrastructure—such as computer labs, servers, and software licensing—is up-to-date and adequately maintained to support BCA/MCA coursework.
n




- Representation: Act as the primary liaison representing the institution to the university board, government education departments, and the media.
n

3. Faculty & Staff Management

n

n
- Recruitment: Lead the interviewing and hiring process for computer science professors, IT lab assistants, and administrative staff.
n
- Mentorship & Evaluation: Set performance goals, conduct regular evaluations, and organize professional development workshops to keep faculty updated on new technologies (e.g., AI, Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity).

4. Student Welfare & Placements

- Discipline & Support: Maintain a secure, inclusive, and disciplined campus environment while providing guidance and crisis management for students.
n
- Industry Integration: Actively collaborate with the placement cell to forge partnerships with IT companies and tech startups. This includes securing internships, driving solid campus placement records, and arranging industry guest lectures.
n

Qualifications & Experience nn
- Education: A Ph.D. in Computer Applications, Computer Science, or a closely related technical discipline is generally mandatory.
n
- Master's Degree: A First-Class Master's degree (MCA or M.Tech in Computer Science/IT).
n
- Experience: A minimum of 15 years of experience in teaching, research, or the IT industry within higher educational institutions, including a proven track record in a senior administrative role (such as HOD, Dean, or Vice Principal).
n
- Research: A strong portfolio of research publications in reputed academic journals.
