Key Responsibilities
Receive and verify patient samples from collection centres, home collection, and internal departments.
Check patient details, sample type, quantity, labeling, and requisition forms before accessioning.
Enter patient and sample information accurately into the LIS/HRMS or relevant laboratory system.
Generate accession numbers/barcodes and ensure proper sample labeling.
Identify and document rejected, insufficient, mislabeled, or compromised samples as per SOP.
Ensure samples are sorted and routed to the appropriate laboratory sections.
Coordinate with phlebotomists, collection centres, couriers, and laboratory departments regarding sample discrepancies.
Maintain proper records of received, rejected, pending, and dispatched samples.
Ensure timely processing and movement of samples to avoid delays in reporting.
Follow laboratory SOPs, quality standards, infection-control practices, and safety protocols.
Maintain confidentiality of patient information and laboratory records.
Escalate critical discrepancies or operational issues to the concerned supervisor.
Support internal audits and quality-control activities when required.
