General Definition Of Work
This position will be assigned to administer the eligibility determination process for Family & Children's Medicaid and sub-programs. Included are MAF (Medicaid for Families with Dependent Children), MPW (Medicaid for Pregnant Women), MIC (Medicaid for Infants and Children), Medicaid for 19–20-year-olds, MXP (MAGI Adult Medicaid Expansion), Transitional Medicaid and IAS/HSF (Medicaid for Foster Children). This caseworker must interview clients to obtain required information, verify the information obtained, and determine initial and ongoing eligibility for all assigned applications, reapplications, recertifications and changes in circumstance utilizing the North Carolina Families Accessing Services through Technology (NC QUICK) system. This position will be responsible for taking applications on a rotating basis and processing applications taken. In addition, this position will maintain a caseload comprised of MAF, MIC, MPW, MXP, HSF and IAS cases. Maintenance of the assigned caseload consists of processing recertifications, monthly/quarterly reports, changes in circumstance, monitoring continual compliance with all program requirements, responding to requests for program information or other matters as they arise during the time the case is open, and terminating or reducing benefits when the individual is no longer eligible for the program or sub-program.
Participation in Shelter Management is required in the event of emergencies or disasters. This service, if required,
will take precedence over duties described in this position vacancy announcement. This position is required to perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor and could be subject to overtime which is given in the form of compensatory time.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Considerable knowledge of the program/areas of assignment. General knowledge of all agency and community programs and services which could affect the client/applicant. Good mathematical reasoning and computational skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret rules, regulations, and procedures. Ability to communicate with clients/applicants, the public at large, and public officials to obtain data, and to explain and interpret rules, regulations, and procedures. Ability to instruct and to evaluate the work of lower-level employees. Ability to perform caseworker functions within structured time frames.
Education And Experience
One year of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
