Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Backend Engineer to join our team and help build and scale the backend systems powering Botern.

The role will primarily involve working with Node.js, PostgreSQL, Docker, microservices, cloud integrations, and AI-assisted workflows. Familiarity with React is preferred to enable smooth collaboration across the product stack.

Key Responsibilities

· Develop and maintain backend services using Node.js.

· Design and build scalable REST APIs and microservices.

· Design, manage, and optimize PostgreSQL databases.

· Build and maintain containerized services using Docker.

· Develop backend systems supporting web applications built with React.

· Integrate AI-assisted workflows and external AI APIs into product features.

· Build integrations with cloud services, storage systems, and third-party APIs.

· Develop background jobs, asynchronous workflows, and data-processing services.

· Optimize backend systems for performance, reliability, and scalability.

· Implement secure authentication, authorization, and access-control systems.

· Deploy, monitor, debug, and maintain production services.

· Collaborate with frontend and mobile developers to deliver features from development to production.

· Participate in code reviews and maintain clean, modular, and scalable architecture.

Requirements

· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering,



or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

· Strong experience with Node.js.

· Good knowledge of PostgreSQL, including database design, queries, and performance optimization.

· Experience designing and building RESTful APIs.

· Understanding of microservices architecture.

· Experience with Docker and containerized application development.

· Familiarity with React and modern frontend-backend integration.

· Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.

· Experience integrating third-party APIs and external services.

· Experience deploying and maintaining live applications.

· Strong problem-solving skills and ability to independently take ownership of features.

· Good communication and collaboration skills.

Valuable to have

· Experience integrating LLMs or AI APIs such as OpenAI, Gemini, Claude, or similar platforms.

· Experience building AI-assisted workflows or structured data-processing pipelines.

· Experience with Redis, queues, event-driven systems, or background workers.

· Experience with CI/CD and automated deployment workflows.

· Familiarity with Kubernetes.

· Experience with healthcare technology, secure cloud infrastructure, or HIPAA-compliant applications.

Location

This is a remote position. Candidates can work from home but are expected to actively participate in the project, communicate regularly with the team, take ownership of assigned work, and complete features within agreed timelines.

The position can be part-time or full-time, depending on the candidate's experience and availability.

Salary

Rs. 30,000–40,000 per month, depending on experience, technical skills, availability, and level of involvement.
