Role Description The Chinese Cook (Commis 1) is a full time, in office role based at Rockside Resto Bar in Karkal. This position is responsible for preparing and cooking Chinese dishes, including soups, stir-fries, noodles, and fried items, following established recipes and presentation standards. Day-to-day tasks include mise en place preparation, operating wok and other cooking equipment safely, monitoring food quality, and coordinating with the Chef and other team members during service. The role also involves maintaining kitchen cleanliness, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards, managing stock rotation, and assisting in receiving and storing ingredients.



The Commis 1 is expected to support menu development, adapt to guest preferences, and work efficiently during peak service hours.
Qualifications

- Hands on experience in Chinese cuisine preparation, including wok cooking, stir-frying, steaming, and deep-frying.
- Solid understanding of basic cooking techniques, knife skills, portioning, and food presentation standards.
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene practices, and proper handling and storage of ingredients.
- Ability to follow recipes, standard operating procedures, and instructions from senior chefs.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by restaurant operations.
- Previous experience in a commercial kitchen or restaurant setting; experience in a Chinese or Asian restaurant is an advantage.
- Basic educational qualification and ability to read and understand kitchen instructions; culinary certification or formal training is a plus.
