Job Overview

We are looking for a highly experienced, entrepreneurial and connected Head of Music to build, lead and scale our entire Music Vertical.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the music ecosystem and strong relationships across artists, artist managers, labels, music publishers, DSPs, brands, agencies, platforms and the wider entertainment industry .

This is an end-to-end leadership role. The VP – Music will be responsible for building the artist ecosystem, scouting and onboarding talent, developing artists, managing releases, driving partnerships and brand opportunities, growing revenue, and ultimately building the music vertical into a strong, scalable business.

The person should be equally comfortable discussing music and artists as they are discussing commercial deals, partnerships, P&L;, brand integrations, digital platforms and business strategy.

Key Responsibilities

1. Build & Own the Music Vertical

- Take complete ownership of the Music business and its growth strategy.
- Define the vision, positioning and long-term roadmap for the music vertical.
- Build the vertical from the ground up and establish scalable processes across scouting, artist management, releases, partnerships and monetisation.
- Own business targets, revenue growth, profitability and overall performance of the vertical.
- Identify new revenue streams, business opportunities and areas for expansion within the music ecosystem.
- Build and lead a high-performing music team across A&R;, artist management, partnerships, marketing, servicing and operations.

2. Artist Scouting & Talent Acquisition

- Actively scout and identify emerging and established artists, singers, songwriters, composers, producers, musicians and creators .
- Build a strong pipeline of recent and commercially relevant talent.
- Evaluate artists based on talent, audience potential, brand fit, cultural relevance and commercial viability.
- Develop relationships with artists, managers, labels and independent music communities.
- Lead negotiations and onboarding of new artists and talent.
- Create compelling artist propositions and long-term partnership models.
- Identify artists who can be developed into commercially successful IPs.

3. Artist Management & Development

- Drive the end-to-end development of selected artists and talent.
- Work closely with artists and their managers to define their career strategy, positioning, brand identity and growth roadmap .
- Oversee release strategy, collaborations, content, live opportunities, brand partnerships and audience development.
- Identify opportunities for artists across music, advertising, digital content, films, OTT, live entertainment and other relevant formats.
- Build long-term relationships with artists rather than focusing only on individual releases.
- Ensure artists receive the right creative, marketing, commercial and operational support.

4. A&R; & Music Releases

- Oversee the complete A&R; function, from music discovery to release and post-release performance .
- Identify songs, projects and collaborations with high potential.
- Work with artists, composers, producers and labels to develop release pipelines.




- Oversee release calendars, music strategy and catalogue development.
- Work closely with creative and marketing teams to build campaigns around releases.
- Analyse streaming, audience and consumption data to identify opportunities and optimise future releases.
- Build a strong and differentiated music catalogue.

5. DSP & Platform Relationships

Build and maintain senior relationships with key music and content platforms, including:

- Spotify
- Apple Music
- You Tube / You Tube Music
- Amazon Music
- Jio Saavn
- Gaana
- Wynk and other relevant DSPs/platforms
- Develop strong relationships with editorial, partnerships, content and commercial teams at DSPs.
- Drive playlisting, platform visibility, artist discovery and promotional opportunities.
- Negotiate platform partnerships and strategic initiatives.
- Stay closely connected with changes in algorithms, consumption trends, playlists and platform strategies.
- Ensure our artists and releases receive maximum possible visibility across relevant platforms.

6. Brand Partnerships & Commercial Opportunities

- Build strong relationships with brands, advertising agencies, media agencies and marketing leaders .
- Create commercial opportunities for artists through brand partnerships, endorsements, collaborations and original music.
- Develop music-led solutions for brands, including:
- Artist collaborations
- Branded music
- Original compositions
- Artist endorsements
- Digital campaigns
- Social-first music campaigns
- Brand IPs
- Live performances
- Creator collaborations
- Cultural/music properties
- Work closely with the advertising and creative teams to bring artists into relevant brand opportunities.
- Lead commercial negotiations and ensure strong value creation for both artists and brands.

7. Labels, Publishers & Industry Partnerships

- Build strategic relationships with major and independent record labels, music publishers, distributors, aggregators, artist managers and entertainment companies .
- Identify opportunities for catalogue acquisition, licensing, distribution and co-production.
- Negotiate partnerships, collaborations and commercial arrangements.
- Stay deeply connected to the Indian and international music ecosystem.

8. Music Marketing & Audience Growth

- Oversee marketing strategy for artists and releases.
- Work with internal and external teams across digital, social media, influencer marketing, PR and content.
- Develop strategies to build artist audiences and fan communities.
- Identify emerging trends, genres, sounds and cultural movements.
- Use data and audience insights to improve artist and release performance.
- Ensure every major release has a strong go-to-market strategy.

9. Partnerships, Business Development & Revenue

- Identify and close new business opportunities across the music ecosystem.
- Develop strategic partnerships with platforms, brands, labels, agencies and entertainment companies.
- Build new monetisation models around artists,



music IP and catalogue.
- Own negotiations, commercial structures and partnership agreements.
- Develop the vertical into a significant revenue-generating business.

10. Team Building & Leadership

- Build the music team from the ground up.
- Hire and mentor A&R;, artist managers, music marketers, partnerships and operations professionals.
- Establish clear processes, KPIs and performance standards.
- Create a culture focused on creativity, relationships, commercial thinking and execution.
- Be the senior-most point of contact for the Music Vertical internally and externally.

11. Industry Leadership & Network

- Represent the company at music, entertainment, advertising and industry events.
- Build strong relationships with influential artists, managers, labels, platforms, brands and industry leaders.
- Maintain a deep understanding of the evolving music and entertainment landscape.
- Identify international opportunities and potential cross-border partnerships.
- Establish the company as a credible and influential player within the music ecosystem.

What We Are Looking For

- 12+ years of relevant experience across music, artist management, A&R;, labels, music platforms, entertainment, music business or a closely related field .
- Strong understanding of the complete music ecosystem.
- Existing relationships with artists, artist managers, labels, DSPs, brands, agencies and music industry stakeholders .
- Proven experience in discovering, signing, onboarding and developing artists.
- Strong understanding of music releases, distribution, marketing and monetisation.
- Experience working with platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, You Tube Music and other DSPs.
- Strong commercial and business-development capabilities.
- Experience negotiating partnerships and commercial deals.
- Ability to build and manage teams.
- Strong understanding of digital music, streaming, social media and creator ecosystems.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-management skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to build a new business vertical independently.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate should be someone who understands the entire music business end-to-end — from discovering a 20-year-old emerging artist to signing and onboarding them, developing their career, releasing their music, getting platform support, building their audience, creating brand partnerships, negotiating commercial opportunities, managing relationships with labels and DSPs, and ultimately turning artists and music IP into a scalable business.

The candidate should have strong industry credibility, an exceptional network and a proven track record of building relationships and businesses within the music ecosystem.
