Backend Engineer – Core Java | AI-Assisted Engineering

We’re looking for a Backend Engineer with strong Core Java fundamentals to join a product engineering team working on business-critical backend services and customer-facing data integrations.

/n

This is not a framework-heavy Java role. We’re looking for engineers who understand Core Java, backend architecture, microservices and scalable systems deeply and can independently take ownership of production features.

/n

A key part of this role is also AI-assisted software development . You should already be using tools such as Claude, Git Hub Copilot or Cursor as part of your daily engineering workflow — not simply experimenting with them.

What You’ll Work On

/n

/n

- Design and develop moderately complex backend features with minimal supervision.

/n

- Build and maintain scalable backend services and microservices.

/n

- Own business-critical production components from development through deployment and maintenance.

/n

- Contribute to system design and architecture discussions.

/n

- Build and maintain customer-facing connectors handling large volumes of data and events.

/n

- Troubleshoot production issues, bugs and customer escalations.

/n

- Implement security fixes and improve reliability of existing services.

/n

- Use AI coding assistants to scaffold features, write tests, debug issues, review code and accelerate development.

/n

- Break down engineering problems into precise tasks and prompts to get effective output from AI tools.

/n

- Review and validate AI-generated code for correctness, security, performance and engineering standards before it reaches production.

/n

- Write clean,



maintainable and production-ready code.

What We’re Looking For

/n

Must Have

/n

/n

- 2–6 years of hands-on backend software engineering experience.

/n

- Solid and current Core Java expertise.

/n

- Solid understanding of backend engineering fundamentals.

/n

- Hands-on experience building Microservices .

/n

- Experience designing and implementing moderately complex features independently.

/n

- Ability to contribute meaningfully to system design and architecture discussions.

/n

- Experience owning production systems/components and resolving real-world production issues.

/n

- Experience working with scalable, distributed or high-volume backend systems .

/n

- Experience in a product-based company , preferably B2B SaaS or B2C product environments.

/n

- Hands-on, regular use of AI coding assistants such as Claude, Git Hub Copilot or Cursor .

/n

- Ability to effectively prompt AI tools, decompose engineering tasks and critically review AI-generated code before production use.

/n

- Ability to join within 1 week .

/n

- Must currently be based in or near Bengaluru, Chennai or Ahmedabad .

- Python development experience.

- Database/JDBC integration experience.

- Experience working with connectors, integrations or data-intensive backend systems.

- Experience with distributed systems or event-driven architectures.

Who This Role Is For

/n

This role is ideal for a hands-on backend engineer who can operate independently , understands Java beyond frameworks, has worked on production-grade product systems, and is already incorporating AI into their daily coding workflow.

If your experience is primarily Java support, testing, maintenance or enterprise application configuration , this role is unlikely to be a fit.
