Job Description
Job Summary
/n
Stenograph is seeking an experienced Embedded Linux Platform & Qt Engineer to join the team building our next-generation embedded writer platform. The selected candidate will own the full device software stack on a Linux-based embedded platform — from board support and kernel-level platform bring-up through the touchscreen application UI built on top of it.
This role requires strong expertise in embedded Linux platform engineering, power management, and shipped Qt Quick/QML application development.
/n
/n
Key Responsibilities
/n
- Own board support package and kernel-level platform work for a Linux-based embedded device:
/n
bootloader, kernel configuration, device tree, driver integration, and build-system authorship.
/n
- Implement and debug power-management behavior including suspend/resume, wireless connectivity
/n
coexistence, and correct interaction with an always-on companion low-power domain.
/n
- Implement secure boot and an A/B (fail-safe, rollback-capable) over-the-air update mechanism for the full software image, coordinated with a companion firmware update path.
/n
- Instrument and support platform power-consumption measurement work feeding a system-level power
/n
budget.
/n
- Design and implement a touchscreen application user interface using a modern declarative UI framework
/n
(Qt Quick/QML), built against a visual design system and interaction specification provided by product
/n
design, including secondary/always-on display behavior and detach/failover states.
/n
- Integrate C++ backend/business logic with the QML UI layer.
/n
- Collaborate with firmware, application, QA,
and program leadership on platform-level integration,
/n
timing/latency budgets, and update/rollback behavior.
/n
- Participate in design and code review across both platform and application layers.
/n
- Utilize contemporary AI-assisted development tools to accelerate platform bring-up, driver integration, and UI
/n
implementation work, while applying independent engineering judgment to verify correctness rather than
/n
trusting generated output at face value.
/n
- Support the product from early architecture through production release.
/n
/n
Required Qualifications
/n
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or
/n
equivalent experience).
/n
- 5+ years of professional embedded Linux development experience.
/n
- Hands-on experience authoring and maintaining embedded Linux build-system layers (e.g., Yocto/Open Embedded or equivalent).
/n
- Experience with a specific SoC family at the board-support level: device tree, bootloader, kernel driver
/n
integration.
/n
- Demonstrated experience debugging kernel-level power management (suspend/resume, low-power states, wireless coexistence).
/n
- Shipped experience building touchscreen or embedded application UIs with Qt Quick/QML on embedded Linux.
/n
- Solid C++ skills and experience integrating C++ logic with a declarative UI layer.
/n
- Demonstrated, hands-on effectiveness with AI-assisted software engineering tools (agentic coding
/n
assistants, AI-based code review), with clear judgment about when to trust generated output and when it
/n
requires independent verification.
/n
- Excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills, including hardware/software boundary issues.
/n
- Experience using Git for version control and standard issue-tracking tools for project/task management.
/n
Preferred Qualifications
/n
- Experience with over-the-air update frameworks (A/B image update systems).
/n
- Experience with heterogeneous multi-processor SoCs (application processor plus a low-power co-processor domain).
/n
- Experience with embedded NPU/AI-accelerator toolchains.
/n
- Prior experience specifically deploying a commercial embedded-Linux/Qt device platform.
/n
- Touch UX craft and familiarity with UI test-automation frameworks.
/n
- Experience working directly from a UX/visual design specification produced by a product designer, with an eye toward minimizing implementation round-trips.
/n
- Experience working in Agile development environments.
/n
/n
Required Skills
/n
- AI-Assisted Software Development
/n
- Embedded Linux (BSP, kernel, device tree)
/n
- Yocto/Open Embedded (or equivalent build system)
/n
- Qt Quick / QML
/n
- C++ (modern standards)
/n
- Power Management & Low-Power Design
/n
- Secure Boot & OTA Update Systems
/n
- Git
/n
- Debugging & Troubleshooting
/n
- Software Design & Architecture
