We are looking for a detail-oriented Copyeditor with experience in the ePublishing industry to ensure that manuscripts meet the highest editorial and publishing standards. The ideal candidate should possess excellent language skills, a strong command of grammar and style, and the ability to work efficiently in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining exceptional quality.

Key Responsibilities
- Copyedit scholarly, academic, and professional manuscripts for grammar, spelling, punctuation, syntax, clarity, consistency, and readability.
- Ensure manuscripts comply with publisher-specific editorial guidelines and house style requirements.
- Preserve the authors voice, intent, and scholarly tone while improving the overall quality of the content.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive project style sheets throughout the editorial lifecycle.
- Edit and standardize citations, references, bibliographies, footnotes, and endnotes in accordance with APA, AMA, Chicago, MLA, and other publisher-specific styles.
- Verify the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of references, citations, cross-references, headings, tables, figures, numbering, and manuscript structure.
- Identify inconsistencies, missing information, and content issues, and communicate them through clear and concise author queries.
- Review and incorporate author corrections, ensuring all revisions are accurately implemented and remain consistent with the approved style.
- Perform post-author review cleanup and final editorial checks before production.
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Production Editors,
and other stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of high-quality projects.
- Support collation activities and ensure all manuscript versions are accurately tracked and consolidated.
- Consistently achieve quality benchmarks and daily productivity targets.
Required Skills
- 1-5 years of copyediting experience in the ePublishing or STM publishing industry.
- Excellent command of English grammar, syntax, punctuation, and editorial conventions.
- Strong knowledge of major style guides such as APA, AMA, Chicago Manual of Style (CMS), MLA, and publisher-specific guidelines.
- Experience in handling scholarly or academic manuscripts.
- Good understanding of the collation process and post-author review workflow.
- Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to identify inconsistencies and resolve editorial issues independently.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting strict deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and standard editorial tools.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in any discipline.
- Certification or formal training in editing or publishing will be an added advantage.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Prior experience working with international publishers.
- Familiarity with academic publishing workflows and production processes.
- Ability to work effectively in a quick-paced, target-driven environment.
