Global Marine Services is back office of Global Catering, Canada, a marine catering management company providing catering support and supply services to merchant ships operating worldwide.

We are looking for dynamic and experienced Individuals for the above positions to join our Mumbai team and take responsibility for the day-to-day coordination and monitoring of catering operations for vessels.

Key Responsibilities

- Coordinate and supervise catering and supply operations for assigned merchant vessels.
- Communicate regularly with vessel Masters, Chief Officers, Cooks and catering personnel regarding catering requirements.
- Review vessel provision requisitions, inventory reports, consumption patterns and monthly food cost / Victualling reports.
- Monitor vessel stock levels and identify abnormal consumption, shortages, overstocking and wastage.
- Coordinate with the procurement and operations teams to ensure timely supply of provisions and catering items.
- Liaise with suppliers to obtain quotations, compare prices and ensure quality and timely delivery.
- Assist in planning vessel provisions based on crew strength, trading area, vessel requirements and available budget.
- Monitor and control PMPD / victualling costs and ensure catering expenses remain within the approved budget.
- Review menus, food requirements and catering practices to ensure appropriate and economical provisioning.
- Follow up with vessels regarding food quality, storage conditions, hygiene and catering standards.
- Maintain proper records, reports, correspondence and documentation related to vessel catering operations.
- Monitor supplier performance and coordinate resolution of supply, quality or quantity-related issues.




- Coordinate with internal departments for vessel requirements, purchase orders, deliveries and operational follow-up.
- Assist in conducting catering audits and vessel catering performance reviews where required.
- Ensure that catering operations are conducted in line with applicable maritime, food hygiene and company standards.
- Provide guidance and support to vessel catering staff on victualling, inventory control, food hygiene, galley management and cost control.
- Identify operational issues and recommend corrective actions to improve vessel catering performance.

Preferred candidate profile

The ideal candidate should have:

- 35 years of relevant experience in catering operations, maritime catering, ship chandelling, victualling or a similar field.
- Previous experience working with merchant vessels / shipping companies / marine catering operations will be strongly preferred.
- Valuable understanding of vessel provisioning, victualling, inventory and catering cost control.
- Experience in dealing with vessel personnel, suppliers and catering teams.
- Good knowledge of food provisions, catering requirements and supplier coordination.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Good analytical ability to review stock, consumption and catering cost reports.
- Excellent working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, Outlook and cloud-based software.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple vessels and meet operational deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies in vessel reports and consumption.
- A practical, service-oriented approach with the ability to work in a fast-paced maritime environment.Role & responsibilities
