Job Summary

Paniya Machines & Automation Private Limited is looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Team Lead / Design Manager to lead the mechanical design function for industrial automation and turnkey automation projects.

The candidate will be responsible for managing the complete mechanical design lifecycle, from concept development and engineering design to detailed drawings, validation, manufacturing support, installation, commissioning, and final project delivery.

The ideal candidate should have solid hands-on experience in Special Purpose Machines (SPMs), Assembly Line Automation, Warehouse Automation, Robotics Automation, Conveyors, Material Handling Systems, and Factory Automation, along with proven team leadership and project management capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and manage the Mechanical Design Team for industrial automation and turnkey projects.
- Oversee the complete design lifecycle, including:
- Concept development
- Feasibility studies
- 3D modelling
- Detailed engineering
- Design validation
- Manufacturing drawings
- Final design release

- Review and approve engineering drawings, BOMs, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Ensure design solutions meet customer requirements, project specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and applicable engineering standards.
- Collaborate closely with Production, Procurement, Quality, Electrical, Automation, Robotics, Sales, and Project Management teams.
- Drive design optimization for cost reduction, performance improvement, reliability, manufacturability, and ease of assembly/maintenance.
- Plan and manage design activities, resources, priorities, and project deliverables to ensure on-time project execution.
- Provide technical support during manufacturing, assembly, installation, and commissioning.
- Troubleshoot design-related issues and implement engineering modifications wherever required.
- Review customer requirements and convert them into practical and cost-effective mechanical design solutions.
- Mentor, train, and develop Design Engineers, Senior Designers, and CAD professionals.
- Establish design standards, templates,



libraries, and best practices to improve engineering efficiency.
- Drive standardization and continuous improvement across the design function.
- Coordinate with vendors and manufacturing teams to ensure design feasibility and quality.
- Participate in design reviews and project meetings with internal teams and customers whenever required.

Technical Skills

- Proficiency in one or more CAD platforms such as:
- Siemens NX / UG
- SolidWorks
- AutoCAD
- CATIA
- Creo or similar 3D CAD software

- Strong knowledge of mechanical machine design and automation equipment design.
- Hands-on experience in:
- Industrial Automation
- Special Purpose Machines (SPM)
- Assembly Line Automation
- Robotics Automation
- Warehouse Automation
- Material Handling Systems
- Conveyor Systems
- Factory Automation

- Good understanding of PLC and electrical system integration with mechanical automation systems. additional
- Strong knowledge and experience of machine components, mechanisms, pneumatic systems, linear motion systems, fixtures, tooling, motors, gearboxes, bearings, sensors, and actuators.
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, machining, fabrication, sheet metal, welding, and assembly.
- Hands-on experience with GD&T;, engineering drawings, tolerances, and relevant engineering standards.
- Experience in preparing and reviewing BOMs, assembly drawings, manufacturing drawings, and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with simulation, motion analysis, FEA, or other engineering analysis tools will be an advantage.

- Experience in design review, project planning, risk identification, and technical decision-making.

Preferred Qualifications

- Knowledge of Industry 4.0, IoT, Smart Manufacturing, and connected automation systems.
- Exposure to robotic simulation and digital manufacturing concepts.
- PMP or equivalent project management certification will be an added advantage.
- Experience in implementing design standardization and engineering process improvements.

Preferred Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be a Mechanical Design professional with 815 years of experience in industrial automation, machine building, SPMs, robotics, assembly automation, material handling, or turnkey automation projects.

Candidates who have progressed from hands-on Design Engineer Senior Design Engineer Team Lead / Design Manager roles and have experience managing both people and project deliverables will be preferred.
