Sweater Garments Manufacturing Unit

Position: Production Manager

Location: Factory

1. Job Purpose

To manage and control the complete sweater garment production process from knitting to garmenting and finishing, ensuring production targets, quality standards, manpower utilization, cost control and timely order execution.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Production Planning & Control

- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly production plans as per buyer/order requirements.
- Monitor production from Knitting Linking/Garmenting Finishing Packing.
- Ensure production targets are achieved within the planned timelines.
- Identify production bottlenecks and take immediate corrective action.
- Coordinate with PPC, Merchandising, Quality, Stores and Dispatch teams.

B. Knitting Knowledge & Control

- Strong practical knowledge of sweater knitting processes, machines and production methods.
- Plan knitting capacity according to style, yarn, gauge and order requirements.
- Monitor knitting efficiency, wastage, defects and machine utilization.
- Coordinate with knitting supervisors/operators for smooth production.
- Ensure proper handling of yarn and knitted panels/components.

C. Garmenting / Linking / Finishing

- Strong knowledge of complete sweater garmenting processes.
- Monitor linking, sewing, washing, ironing, finishing and packing activities.
- Ensure proper line balancing and smooth movement of materials.
- Control rework, rejection and production losses.
- Ensure production is completed according to approved samples and specifications.





D. Manpower Planning & Team Handling

- Prepare manpower requirements based on production plans and capacity.
- Effectively deploy manpower across knitting, garmenting and finishing departments.
- Monitor worker productivity, absenteeism, overtime and efficiency.
- Lead and motivate production supervisors, line in-charges and workers.
- Conduct regular production meetings and performance reviews.
- Develop a disciplined, productive and accountable production team.

E. Costing & Cost Control

- Understand sweater manufacturing costing and production cost components.
- Monitor yarn consumption, wastage, labour cost, overtime and production expenses.
- Identify areas for cost reduction without compromising quality.
- Compare actual production cost with planned/budgeted cost.
- Support management in product costing and capacity decisions.

F. Quality & Productivity

- Work closely with the Quality Department to maintain required quality standards.
- Reduce defects, rejection, alteration and rework.
- Improve machine efficiency, labour productivity and overall

- factory efficiency.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions for recurring production problems.

G. MIS & Computer Knowledge

- Maintain and review production reports through MS Excel / ERP / production software.




- Prepare daily production, efficiency, manpower and rejection reports.
- Analyze production data and provide actionable information to management.
- Good working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, Email and ERP/MIS systems.
- Ability to use Excel formulas, Pivot Tables and production dashboards will be an advantage.

H. Cross-Functional Coordination

- Coordinate with:
- Merchandising
- PPC
- Knitting
- Quality
- Stores
- Maintenance
- HR
- Dispatch

- Ensure timely availability of yarn, trims, accessories, manpower and machines.
- Escalate critical production issues to management with practical solutions.

4. Education & Experience

Education: Diploma / Graduate in Textile, Garment Technology, Production or related field preferred.

Experience: 8–12 years of relevant experience in sweater/knit garment manufacturing, with at least 3–5 years in a Production Manager / Senior Production role.

Candidates with strong hands-on experience in knitting + garmenting + production planning + manpower management will be preferred.
