Position Purchase Executive Department Purchase/ Procurement Location Mumbai- Andheri (E) Near Chakala Station Reporting ToManagement Experience 2-5 years in Purchase /Procurement for Chemical Manufacturing Company Employment Type Full-time
1. Job Purpose
To manage plant-level procurement and ensure timely availability of raw materials, specialty chemicals, packaging materials, consumables, engineering items and services required for uninterrupted plant operations.
The role will work closely with Production, Stores, Quality, Maintenance, R&D;, Accounts/Finance, and Head Office.
2. Key Responsibilities
- Receive and review purchase requisitions from Production, Stores, Maintenance, Quality and other plant departments.
- Plan and execute purchase activities based on production schedules, stock levels, lead times, and approved requirements.
- Source vendors and obtain quotations for raw materials, chemicals, solvents, packaging materials, consumables, engineering spares and services.
- Prepare quotation comparison statements and support commercial evaluation and negotiation.
- Prepare and process Purchase Orders (POs) after obtaining the required approvals.
- Follow up with suppliers for timely delivery and ensure materials reach the plant as per the agreed schedule.
- Coordinate with Stores for receipt, shortages, pending materials and stock status.
- Coordinate with Quality/QC for material specifications, COA/MSDS/SDS requirements, sampling, trials, and approval of new materials/vendors.
- Coordinate with Production and Planning teams to avoid production stoppage due to material shortages.
- Support vendor qualification, new vendor development,
and alternate source development.
- Monitor supplier quality, delivery performance and responsiveness; escalate repeated issues to management.
- Negotiate price, payment terms, credit period, freight and delivery conditions to achieve cost-effective procurement.
- Track open POs and ensure timely closure of pending orders.
- Maintain purchase documentation including PRs, quotations, comparison statements, approvals, POs, vendor records and delivery follow-up.
- Update SAP/ERP purchase transactions and maintain accurate procurement records.
- Prepare daily/weekly/monthly procurement of MIS and material status reports.
- Support inventory optimization by monitoring minimum/maximum levels, critical items, and lead times.
- Coordinate with Accounts regarding invoice verification, payment status and supplier commercial queries.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company procedures, quality requirements, safety requirements, and applicable environmental/compliance requirements.

4. Required Qualification & Experience
- Graduate / Diploma in Commerce, Business Administration, Supply Chain, Materials Management, Engineering or related discipline.
- 2-5 years of relevant Purchase / Procurement experience.
- Experience in souring chemical, specialty chemical,for manufacturing or process industries.
- Experience with chemical/raw-material procurement and plant-level purchasing will be an advantage.
- Tally experience and working knowledge
