About the Role
Edgecore Networks is looking for a skilled Hardware Engineer to join our India R&D; team. The candidate will be responsible for the design, development, validation, debugging, and production support of telecom and networking hardware, with a robust focus on Ethernet switches and network communication platforms.
The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in networking hardware development and a strong understanding of high-speed digital design, power management, PCB design, hardware validation, and system-level troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop hardware for Ethernet switches, telecom networking equipment, and data communication platforms.
- Develop and review hardware architecture, schematics, and PCB designs.
- Perform schematic design, PCB layout reviews, component selection, and BOM management.
- Work on high-speed networking interfaces including Ethernet PHY, SerDes, DDR, PCIe, and related interfaces.
- Work with networking ASICs, SoCs, and processors from vendors such as Broadcom, Marvell, Realtek, or similar platforms.
- Design and troubleshoot power management circuits, DC/DC converters, PoE, and related power systems.
- Perform hardware bring-up, debugging, troubleshooting,
and root-cause analysis.
- Develop and execute hardware validation and Design Verification Testing (DVT) plans.
- Perform functional, performance, signal integrity, power, and system-level testing.
- Use laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, protocol analyzers, and spectrum analyzers.
- Review PCB layouts for signal integrity, power integrity, thermal, and reliability requirements.
- Support DFM, DFA, and DFC activities to ensure designs are reliable, manufacturable, and cost-effective.
- Support prototype builds, factory testing, production bring-up, and transition to mass production.
- Investigate and resolve hardware issues during development, production, customer deployment, and RMA.
- Work closely with firmware, software, mechanical, thermal, power, QA, manufacturing, and system engineering teams.
- Coordinate with component suppliers and silicon vendors for technical evaluation and issue resolution.
- Support ESD, surge, safety, reliability, and other product compliance requirements.
- Contribute to new technology evaluation and continuous improvement of networking hardware products.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors or Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in telecom, networking, Ethernet switches, or data communication hardware.
- Hands-on experience in hardware circuit design, schematic development, and PCB layout review.
- Strong understanding of high-speed digital design and interfaces such as SerDes, DDR, PCIe, and Ethernet PHY.
- Experience with networking ASIC/SoC platforms such as Broadcom, Marvell, or Realtek.
- Good knowledge of power electronics, DC/DC converters, and PoE.
- Experience in hardware validation, DVT, board bring-up, debugging, and failure analysis.
- Proficiency with OrCAD Capture, Cadence Allegro, or equivalent EDA tools.
- Good understanding of Ethernet technologies, telecom networking standards, and network architectures.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with telecom/networking switches, enterprise switches, routers, or data communication products.
- Knowledge of ARM, MIPS, or x86-based networking platforms.
- Experience with signal integrity and power integrity analysis.
- Knowledge of DFM, DFA, DFC, ESD, surge, safety, and reliability requirements.
- Experience with Python or scripting for hardware test automation.
- Experience supporting factory testing, production validation, customer issues, and RMA analysis.
- Familiarity with firmware and hardware integration.
