Job Responsibilities:

- To receivesort and check soiled / contaminated instrumentscontainerstreatment trays and other supplies and equipment that have been used in the operation theaterICUwardsemergency (casualty) room and Catheterization Labarotory and prioritize disinfection and sterilization depending on emergency requisitions.
- To carry out preliminary check of suppliesi. e. check the functionality of reusable items that need to be sterilized.
- To inspect and replace missing or damaged equipmentmake minor repairs on themmaintain inventory of supplies to include documenting usageissuingreceiving and reordering as assigned.
- To carry out manual cleaning and / or cleaning by machines of the reprocessible items received after being used for patient treatment and care.
- To operate automatic and semi-automatic sterilizing equipments like steam sterilizersEthylene oxide sterilizersUltrasonic cleaners
- To accurately compute the sterilization process for all items using the method determined by the manufacturer and Infection control.




- To maintain an accurate record regarding the effectiveness of the various processes of cleaningdisinfections and sterilization.
- To ensure all user departments receive supplies of sterile instrumentslinen and dressing material in adequate quantities and whenever required.
- To maintain high standard of environmental cleanliness.
- To ensure care and maintece of all equipment in department.
- To maintain Quality Control parameters for all methods of sterilization and to document the effectiveness of each method.
- To perform other related duties incidental to work described as assigned.
- To actively participate in internal / external training programs.
- Escalate in case of major problems in equipment / provision of supplies / other process related major events.
- Develop and maintains standards of Processes to be carried out in the department.
- Ensure optimum utilization of resources and quality assurance in service delivery.
- Ensure interdepartmental communication is clear and effective.
- Prepare monthly duty rota whenever assigned ensure shifts are adequately mannedreport absenteeism.
- Collaborate with all the Nursing Units and other service areas departments for any change in their requirement of sterile instrumentslinen packs and dressings.
- Assist in Training and Competency assessment of new joinees.




- Provide inputs for training needs of staff to Incharge.
- Provide inputs for performance review of staffif required by Incharge.
- Review current SOPs to update any changes in processes.
- Inventory management of Department supplies.
- Allocate duties to the team members as per requirement.
- Supervise completion of documentation.
- Resolution of day-to-day operational issues.
- Quality improvement implementation.

Candidate Requirements:

- Demonstrate competence in all aspects of the CSS Department includes setting-uploan instrumentand other equipment.
- Capable of assisting with the supervision and training of SSU staff.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Team player and flexible.
- Sound organizational skills and capable of prioritizing work and exercising discretion within established policiesguidelines and procedures.
- Demonstrated ongoing education and clinical development.
- Able to work either individually or in a team.
- Responsible for work performed with a high degree level of accountability.
- Able to work within SSU routinesmethods and procedures as required.
- Willing to participate in on the job training and/or specific skills training as required.
- Ability to use computerized information systems and willingness to teach others.
