A. Laboratory Testing

- Perform routine and specialized laboratory investigations as per hospital requirements.
- Handle sample collection, identification, labeling, processing, and storage.
- Perform hematology, biochemistry, clinical pathology, serology, and other tests within the laboratory's scope.
- Ensure correct sample-to-patient identification at every stage.
- Repeat or verify abnormal/unusual results before reporting, as per laboratory protocol.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory analyzers and equipment.

B. Quality Control

- Perform internal quality control (IQC) as per laboratory protocols.
- Monitor accuracy, precision, and reliability of test results.
- Maintain quality-control records and take corrective action when required.
- Ensure calibration and preventive maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Follow applicable laboratory SOPs, biomedical waste management procedures, and infection-control practices.

C. Supervision & Team Management

- Supervise junior laboratory technicians and support staff.
- Allocate daily laboratory duties and ensure adequate shift coverage.
- Train junior staff on sample handling, testing procedures, equipment operation, and safety practices.
- Monitor staff performance and report operational issues to the Laboratory In-charge.
- Ensure proper handover between shifts.

D. Patient & Sample Management

- Ensure proper patient identification before sample collection.
- Handle blood, urine, stool, swab, and other clinical specimens safely.
- Follow proper procedures for rejected, insufficient, hemolyzed, or improperly labeled samples.
- Maintain appropriate storage conditions for samples, reagents, and controls.

E. Reports & Documentation

- Ensure accurate and timely entry of test results into the Hospital Management System/Laboratory Information System.
- Verify reports before authorization or release, according to hospital policy.
- Maintain laboratory registers, worksheets, QC records, maintenance logs, stock records, and other required documentation.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and laboratory reports.

Inventory & Reagents

- Monitor stock levels of reagents, consumables, collection materials, and other laboratory supplies.
- Maintain proper storage and expiry-date monitoring.
- Prepare timely indent requests to avoid stock-outs.
- Follow proper handling and disposal procedures for expired or damaged reagents.

G. Emergency & Hospital Support

- Provide laboratory support for emergency, ICU, OT, inpatient, and outpatient services as required.
- Coordinate with doctors, nurses, reception, pharmacy, and other departments regarding urgent investigations.
- Prioritize critical and emergency samples appropriately.
- Immediately communicate critical laboratory values to the concerned doctor/nurse as per hospital protocol and maintain documentation.

3. EQUIPMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

- Operate laboratory analyzers and equipment safely and correctly.
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance.
- Identify equipment malfunction and initiate troubleshooting.
- Escalate major breakdowns to the Laboratory In-charge/vendor/service engineer.
- Maintain equipment maintenance and service records.

4. SAFETY & INFECTION CONTROL

- Strictly follow standard precautions and infection-control policies.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Handle sharps and biomedical waste according to hospital policy.
- Report needle-stick injuries, exposure incidents, spills, and other laboratory accidents immediately.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and secure laboratory environment.

5. COORDINATION

The Senior Lab Technician shall coordinate effectively with:

- Laboratory In-charge / Pathologist
- Doctors and Consultants
- Nursing Department
- Emergency Department
- ICU
- Operation Theatre
- Reception / Billing




- Pharmacy
- Administration
- External laboratories, when applicable

6. REQUIRED SKILLS

- Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures and diagnostic testing
- Good analytical and problem-solving ability
- Good understanding of quality-control procedures
- Ability to operate laboratory analyzers
- Good computer and data-entry skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and supervise junior staff
- Ability to work under pressure, especially during emergencies
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy

7. PROFESSIONAL EXPECTATIONS

- Maintain professional conduct and patient confidentiality at all times.
- Report to duty on time and follow assigned shift schedules.
- Follow hospital dress code and grooming standards.
- Maintain proper discipline and teamwork.
- Do not disclose patient reports or information to unauthorized persons.
- Perform duties according to hospital policies, SOPs, and instructions from authorized supervisors.

8. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)

- Accuracy of laboratory test results
- Timeliness of report generation
- Sample rejection/error rate
- Compliance with IQC and laboratory SOPs
- Equipment maintenance compliance
- Proper documentation and record maintenance
- Inventory and reagent management
- Compliance with infection-control and biomedical-waste procedures
- Patient and department satisfaction
- Effective supervision of junior laboratory staff

9. WORKING CONDITIONS

- Rotational shifts, including night shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Must be available to support emergency and critical-care investigations.
- Work involves handling biological specimens and laboratory chemicals with appropriate safety precautions.

Note: The employee may be assigned additional duties related to laboratory operations and patient care support by the Hospital Management/Laboratory In-charge as required.

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
