JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for a Production Chemist – Powder Coating & Machine Spray Painting with hands-on experience in industrial powder coating and spray painting of electrical control panels, sheet-metal enclosures and fabricated components.

The candidate will be responsible for shop-floor coating operations, pre-treatment, machine spray/powder coating parameters, colour and finish control, curing, production quality and troubleshooting.

This is a production/shop-floor role and NOT a purely laboratory-based Chemist position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES1. Powder Coating – Control Panels & Sheet Metal

- Handle day-to-day powder coating production for electrical control panels, DB panels, junction boxes, enclosures and sheet-metal components.
- Operate and monitor powder coating spray machines / automatic and manual spray guns.
- Set and monitor KV, powder flow, air pressure and spray parameters according to component requirements.
- Ensure uniform powder application, proper coverage and consistent DFT.
- Monitor powder coating of CRCA, GI and Aluminium sheet-metal components.
- Ensure correct loading, hanging and positioning of panels/components before coating.
- Monitor powder consumption, recovery and wastage.
- Coordinate with production operators to achieve daily coating targets.

2. Machine Spray Painting

- Handle machine-assisted / automatic spray painting and powder coating operations for sheet-metal control panels.
- Set appropriate spray parameters according to panel size, shape and coating requirement.
- Ensure proper coating on corners, edges, bends, internal and external surfaces.
- Monitor spray pattern, coating thickness, coverage and finish.
- Make process adjustments during production to maintain consistent quality.

3. Pre-Treatment Process

- Monitor 7-tank / 9-tank pre-treatment processes for sheet-metal components.
- Handle:
- Degreasing
- De-rusting
- Water rinsing
- Activation
- Zinc / Iron Phosphating
- Passivation
- Check and control pH,



chemical concentration and temperature.
- Perform routine titration and chemical monitoring.
- Ensure proper surface preparation before powder coating.
- Troubleshoot adhesion and surface-preparation issues.

4. Oven & Curing Process

- Monitor powder curing temperature and production parameters.
- Ensure proper curing of powder-coated control panels and sheet-metal components.
- Monitor oven temperature and curing time according to powder manufacturer specifications.
- Identify and correct under-baking, over-baking and uneven curing issues.
- Maintain oven temperature/process records.

5. Colour & Finish Control

- Handle RAL colour matching and production shade requirements.
- Monitor Matt, Gloss, Texture / Structure and Metallic finishes.
- Maintain batch-to-batch colour consistency.
- Check coating appearance and finish before dispatch.
- Coordinate with powder suppliers for shade or powder-related issues.

6. Coating Defect Troubleshooting

Identify and resolve production coating defects such as:

- Orange Peel
- Pinholes
- Cratering
- Poor Coverage
- Colour Variation
- Low / High Gloss
- Uneven Coating
- Poor Adhesion
- Rust Bleeding
- Blistering
- Sagging / Runs
- Over-baking / Under-baking
- Conduct root-cause analysis and implement corrective action.
- Reduce rejection and rework in the coating line.
- Support 5 Why / CAPA activities for recurring coating problems.

7. Production Quality & Inspection

- Perform shop-floor coating inspections using:
- DFT Gauge
- Gloss Meter
- Adhesion / Cross-cut Test
- Visual Inspection
- pH Meter
- Check finished control panels and sheet-metal components for coating quality.
- Ensure products meet internal and customer coating specifications.
- Maintain rejection, rework and process-quality records.

8. Production Documentation & Team Coordination





- Maintain daily production and coating-process records.
- Maintain pre-treatment, oven, DFT and powder-consumption records.
- Prepare basic reports using MS Excel.
- Coordinate with Production, Quality, Maintenance and Stores teams.
- Guide coating operators on correct machine settings and coating practices.

REQUIRED SKILLS

- Hands-on experience in industrial powder coating production.
- Experience with control panels / electrical enclosures / sheet-metal components is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of machine spray painting / automatic powder coating machines.
- Knowledge of manual powder spray guns.
- Good understanding of pre-treatment chemistry.
- Knowledge of CRCA, GI and Aluminium surface preparation.
- Understanding of KV, powder flow, air pressure, DFT and curing parameters.
- Practical knowledge of RAL colours and coating finishes.
- Ability to troubleshoot coating defects independently.
- Knowledge of DFT Gauge, Gloss Meter and pH Meter.
- Good MS Excel and production-reporting skills.
- Strong shop-floor coordination and problem-solving skills.
