Job Description — Scriptwriter / Content Writer

Company: Mind Media Entertainment

Department: Pre-Production / Creative

Role: Scriptwriter – Social Media Video Content

Reports To: Creative Head – Pre-Production

Works Closely With: Creative Producers & Other Scriptwriters

Role Purpose

The Scriptwriter is responsible for researching, developing and writing solid social-media video content based on the creative direction established with the Creative Producer and Creative Head.

This is not a conventional copywriting role.

The writer must understand audience behaviour, social-media attention, hooks, storytelling, client positioning and video execution and translate ideas into scripts that people actually want to watch.

Key Responsibilities

1. Research & Build Idea Banks

Continuously research topics relevant to assigned clients.

Research should include:

Audience problems/questions

Industry developments

Competitor content

Social-media trends

High-performing formats

Comments and audience conversations

Client expertise

Existing content performance

Credible sources and references

Maintain a healthy idea bank rather than searching for topics only when deadlines approach.

2. Participate in Creative Brainstorming

Work directly with CPs and the Creative Head during creative discussions.

Writers are expected to contribute ideas, challenge weak concepts and propose stronger angles rather than functioning only as execution resources.

3. Understand the Client

Learn each client's:

Expertise → Audience → Positioning → Personality → Communication Style → Business Objective

The same topic should not become the same script for every client.

Scripts must sound and feel appropriate for the individual client.

4. Write According to the Creative Lock

Once the creative direction is established, convert it into a robust script while maintaining the agreed:

Topic → Angle → Hook → Key Message → Delivery System → Format → Visual Approach

Avoid unnecessarily changing the core direction during writing.

5. Write for Social-Media Attention

Structure scripts for retention rather than simply information delivery.

Understand and use:

Hook → Trigger / Retention Points → Context → Payoff → CTA, where appropriate.

Scripts should be conversational, concise and designed to be spoken, not read like articles.

6. Create Strong Hooks

Develop multiple hook possibilities where necessary using:

Spoken hooks

Visual hooks

Text hooks

Value-based hooks

Curiosity/FOMO-based hooks

The first few seconds must create a clear reason for the viewer to continue watching.

7. Maintain Research Accuracy

Fact-check claims before submitting scripts.

For medical, financial, legal, technical or other sensitive topics, use credible sources and clearly flag anything requiring expert/client validation.

Never manufacture facts simply to make a hook stronger.

8. Write With Production in Mind

Think visually while writing.

Where relevant, suggest:

Props / demonstrations / B-roll / presenter actions / visual transitions / references

Do not create scripts that are theoretically interesting but practically impossible or unnecessarily difficult to execute.

9. Attend Relevant Shoots

Writers should periodically attend relevant shoots to understand:

How clients actually speak

Which lines are difficult to deliver

What works on camera

How CPs direct presenters

How scripts change during execution

What editors need from the footage

Real production exposure should improve future writing.

10. Learn From Performance

Review published content and identify which topics, hooks, formats and storytelling approaches perform well.

Do not repeatedly write based only on assumptions.

Use real-world results to improve the next batch.

11.

Respond to Feedback & Reduce Rework

Understand the reason behind corrections, not merely make the requested change.

Repeated corrections for the same underlying issue should reduce over time.

The expectation is:

Feedback → Understanding → Learning → Better Next Draft

Key Performance Areas

KPA Expected Outcome

Research Quality Relevant, credible and useful ideas

Idea Contribution Consistent contribution to the idea bank

Script Quality Strong, clear, engaging scripts

Hook Quality Attention-worthy openings

Client Relevance Content matches positioning and personality

Accuracy Well-researched and factually responsible

Rework Rate Reduction in avoidable revisions

Deadline Reliability Scripts ready according to pipeline

Production Awareness Scripts that translate effectively to video

Learning & Growth Visible improvement across content cycles

Candidate Requirements

Preferably 1–3+ years of experience in scriptwriting, content writing, social-media content, advertising or related creative work.

Strong research ability and curiosity are essential.

Must understand—or demonstrate the ability to learn—short-form video storytelling, hooks, retention and audience psychology.

Should be comfortable receiving direct creative feedback and rewriting work without becoming overly attached to the first draft.

What We Are Looking For

We don't want a writer whose responsibility ends at:

“I submitted my script.”

We want someone who thinks:

“I need to understand why this content works, how it performs on camera, and how I can make the next script better.”

How the Three Roles Fit Together

This is the distinction I'd keep extremely clear even during hiring:

Creative Head owns the system, team, QC and overall creative standard → Creative Producer owns the client, creative direction and execution → Scriptwriter owns the research, ideas and strength of the written content.

Pay: ₹10,000.00 - ₹17,000.00 per month

Work Location: In person
