The Rich Daddy International is looking for a Cosmetic R&D; Chemist to join our Research & Development team. The candidate will be responsible for developing, testing, optimizing and improving cosmetic and personal care formulations from laboratory trials through production scale-up.

The ideal candidate should have practical knowledge of cosmetic formulation, raw materials, processing techniques and product evaluation, with the ability to develop stable, effective and commercially viable formulations.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop new formulations for skin care, hair care, body care, personal care and other cosmetic products.
- Develop products such as shampoos, conditioners, hair masks, hair serums, hair oils, face washes, creams, lotions, body washes, scrubs and other personal care products.
- Conduct laboratory trials and optimize formulations based on performance, stability, cost and sensory characteristics.
- Select suitable raw materials, functional ingredients, surfactants, emulsifiers, thickeners, preservatives, conditioning agents and active ingredients.
- Evaluate raw-material compatibility and finished-product performance.
- Conduct pH, viscosity, appearance, odour, texture and stability evaluations.
- Perform stability testing and maintain proper formulation and trial records.
- Troubleshoot formulation issues such as separation, viscosity variation, instability, colour/odour changes, poor foam, poor conditioning and other product-performance problems.
- Reformulate and improve existing products based on performance requirements.




- Prepare laboratory batches and coordinate pilot and production-scale trials.
- Support scale-up from laboratory batches to commercial production.
- Work closely with Production and Quality Control teams during manufacturing trials.
- Maintain formulation sheets, batch records, trial reports, raw-material information and R&D; documentation.
- Conduct comparative evaluation and benchmarking of cosmetic products when required.
- Research new cosmetic ingredients, technologies and formulation trends.
- Develop cost-effective formulations while maintaining required product quality and performance.
- Develop samples according to client requirements for private-label, OEM and contract manufacturing projects.
- Ensure formulations are developed with appropriate quality, safety and regulatory considerations.

Required Skills

- Strong knowledge of cosmetic formulation and product development.
- Good understanding of cosmetic raw materials and their functions.
- Practical knowledge of emulsions, surfactant systems, gels, creams, lotions and hair-care formulations.
- Good knowledge of formulation troubleshooting and stability improvement.
- Ability to independently conduct laboratory trials.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills.




- Good documentation and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to work effectively with Production and QC teams.
- Good understanding of cosmetic industry trends and new ingredients.

Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Pharmacy, Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- Previous experience in cosmetic/personal-care formulation and R&D; will be preferred.
- Experience in contract manufacturing, private-label or OEM/ODM cosmetic development will be an advantage.
- Freshers with strong practical formulation knowledge may also be considered for suitable positions.
