About HOBB International

HOBB International is a manufacturing and trading business in the Transmission & Distribution (T&D;) electrical infrastructure sector in India, serving domestic utilities as well as export markets including the USA. The business covers T&D; line hardware, structures, switchgear, and polymer insulator manufacturing.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Mechanical or Electrical Engineer who can take a client requirement or tender all the way from paper to product — reading and interpreting technical specifications, developing the product, seeing it through testing and drawings, building the BOM, and then coordinating with vendors/production to get it made. This is a hands-on, ownership-driven role for someone who wants to build deep product and process knowledge in T&D; infrastructure starting with switchgears, with a clear path to grow into business development as they take on more client-facing responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

Tender & Requirement Analysis

- Study tender documents and client specifications (including PGCIL, RDSO, and state utility requirements) to identify technical and commercial requirements.
- Translate client/tender requirements into a clear internal product brief.

Product Development

- Develop products to match the requirements identified from tenders and client inputs, working within HOBB's existing product lines (line hardware, structures, switchgear, polymer insulators).
- Coordinate with internal teams and external partners as needed to arrive at a compliant, cost-effective product design.

Testing & Technical Drawings

- Plan and coordinate type/routine testing as per applicable IS/IEC standards, and liaise with test labs/agencies.




- Prepare and review engineering drawings and General Technical Particulars (GTPs) / technical datasheets.

BOM Preparation & Costing Support

- Create detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs) for developed products.
- Support costing and quotation preparation using BOM and vendor inputs.

Vendor & Production Coordination (Managed Operations)

- Once a product is developed, coordinate with manufacturing units/vendors to ensure it is produced to drawing and BOM specification.
- Conduct quality checks and follow up on production timelines to keep delivery on track.

Growth Path – Business Development

- Progressively take on client communication, quotations, and elements of the B2B sales cycle for the product lines you develop and manage.
- Grow into a full business development role, owning client relationships end-to-end for assigned product lines.

What We're Looking For

- B.E./B.Tech (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- 2–4 years of experience in T&D;, power infrastructure, or a related manufacturing environment — with exposure to technical documentation, testing, or vendor-side work.
- Comfort reading and interpreting tender documents and technical specifications; familiarity with PGCIL/RDSO approval processes and IS/IEC standards for T&D; hardware, switchgear, or insulators is a strong plus.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar drawing software, and MS Excel for BOM and costing work.
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through — this role owns a product from paper to production.
- A genuine interest in eventually moving into client-facing business development, with the initiative to build that skill over time.
