JOB DESCRIPTION – BNYS DOCTOR

Position: BNYS Doctor – Naturopathy & Yoga Physician
Department: Naturopathy & Yoga
Reports To: Medical Superintendent / Clinical Head
Location: Dhanwanthralaya Ayurveda Speciality Hospital, Chennai

1. Job Purpose

To provide safe, ethical and patient-centred naturopathy and yoga-based healthcare services, including patient assessment, treatment planning, lifestyle counselling, yoga therapy and appropriate coordination with other medical departments.

2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Patient Consultation & Assessment

- Conduct detailed patient consultations and obtain relevant medical history.
- Perform appropriate physical and clinical assessments within the scope of BNYS practice.
- Review previous medical records, laboratory reports and investigation findings.
- Identify patient needs and formulate appropriate naturopathy and yoga treatment plans.
- Refer patients to the appropriate specialist or department when required.

B. Naturopathy Treatment

- Provide naturopathy-based therapies as clinically appropriate.
- Supervise and monitor treatments such as hydrotherapy, mud therapy, diet therapy, massage and other approved naturopathic procedures.
- Ensure appropriate patient preparation, contraindication screening and post-treatment monitoring.
- Monitor patient response and modify treatment plans when clinically indicated.

C. Yoga Therapy

- Assess patients for suitability for therapeutic yoga.
- Prescribe and supervise individualized yoga practices based on the patient's condition.
- Guide patients in appropriate asanas, pranayama, relaxation and meditation techniques.
- Ensure that yoga therapy is conducted safely,



particularly for elderly and medically vulnerable patients.

D. Diet & Lifestyle Counselling

- Provide evidence-informed dietary and lifestyle advice appropriate to the patient's condition.
- Educate patients regarding healthy routines, sleep, exercise, stress management and preventive health.
- Coordinate with the dietitian/nutrition team whenever required.

E. Inpatient Care

- Conduct regular rounds for admitted patients under the BNYS department.
- Monitor patient progress and document clinical findings.
- Coordinate treatment with Ayurveda doctors, physiotherapists, yoga therapists, nurses and other healthcare professionals.
- Escalate any deterioration or emergency condition immediately to the concerned senior doctor/medical team.

F. Documentation & Records

- Maintain accurate OP/IP consultation records.
- Document diagnosis/clinical assessment, treatment plan, progress notes and follow-up advice.
- Ensure proper documentation of all therapies and patient responses.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with hospital policies and applicable professional standards.

G. Patient Education

- Explain treatment procedures and expected outcomes to patients and attendants.
- Obtain appropriate consent before procedures/therapies where required.
- Educate patients regarding precautions, home care and follow-up.

H. Hospital Responsibilities





- Follow hospital SOPs, infection-control practices, patient-safety standards and NABH requirements.
- Participate in clinical meetings, case discussions, audits and quality-improvement activities.
- Participate in health camps, awareness programmes and hospital wellness activities when assigned.
- Maintain qualified conduct and good communication with patients, attendants and hospital staff.

3. Qualifications

Essential:

- BNYS (Bachelor of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences) from a recognized institution/university.
- Valid registration with the applicable statutory/professional authority, wherever required.

Experience:

- Freshers may be considered.
- Prior experience in a hospital, naturopathy centre, wellness centre or integrative healthcare setting will be an advantage.

4. Required Skills

- Good clinical assessment and patient-management skills.
- Knowledge of naturopathy therapies and therapeutic yoga.
- Good communication and counselling skills.
- Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Good documentation and computer skills.
- Compassionate and patient-friendly approach.
- Ability to identify situations requiring referral or urgent medical attention.

5. Working Relationship

The BNYS Doctor will work closely with:

- Medical Superintendent / Clinical Head
- Ayurveda Physicians
- Nursing Department
- Physiotherapy Department
- Yoga Department
- Dietitian/Nutrition Department
- Pharmacy
- Administration and other clinical support departments

Pay: From ₹20,000.00 per month
