- Supervise nursing staff and ensure smooth functioning of assigned wards/departments in all shifts.
- Ensure adequate nursing manpower and proper staff deployment as per patient load.
- Monitor staff attendance, punctuality, uniform, grooming and discipline.
- Prepare/coordinate duty rosters and shift allocation as directed by the Nursing Superintendent.
- Conduct regular rounds of IPD, ICU, Emergency and other assigned patient-care areas.
- Ensure proper patient care, timely medication, vital monitoring, patient identification and safe handover.
- Check nursing documentation including nursing notes, medication charts, vital charts, intake-output records and handover records.
- Ensure proper shift-to-shift handover and communication of critical patient information.
- Coordinate with doctors, nursing staff, pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, billing and other departments for patient-care requirements.
- Ensure availability of emergency supplies, crash cart, nursing consumables and essential equipment in assigned areas.
- Report equipment breakdowns, shortages and operational issues to the concerned department/Management.




- Monitor infection control practices, hand hygiene, PPE use and biomedical waste segregation.
- Attend patient/attendant complaints related to nursing services and escalate reliable issues to the Nursing Superintendent.
- Handle emergency situations and coordinate nursing manpower during critical cases, Code Blue and other emergencies.
- Ensure compliance with hospital SOPs, nursing protocols, patient safety practices and NABH requirements.
