Job Summary

The Infection Control Nurse is responsible for monitoring, preventing, and controlling healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) across the hospital. The role involves infection surveillance, audits, staff education, policy implementation, outbreak investigation, and ensuring compliance with NABH, JCI, and statutory infection control standards.

Key Responsibilities

Infection Surveillance & Monitoring

- Conduct surveillance of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) including CAUTI, CLABSI, VAP, and SSI.
- Collect, analyze, and maintain infection control data and reports.
- Monitor infection trends and identify areas requiring corrective action.
- Participate in outbreak investigations and implement containment measures.

Infection Prevention & Control

- Ensure adherence to infection control policies, protocols, and guidelines.
- Monitor hand hygiene compliance and standard precautions across all departments.
- Conduct regular infection control rounds and audits.
- Ensure proper implementation of isolation precautions.

Training & Education





- Conduct induction and refresher training programs for clinical and non-clinical staff.
- Educate healthcare workers on infection prevention practices.
- Promote awareness regarding hand hygiene, biomedical waste management, and PPE usage.

Audit & Compliance

- Conduct audits related to hand hygiene, PPE compliance, environmental hygiene, and biomedical waste segregation.
- Support NABH, JCI, and internal quality audits.
- Maintain infection control records, reports, and documentation.

Coordination & Reporting

- Coordinate with Microbiology, Nursing, Medical, Housekeeping, CSSD, and Quality departments.
- Prepare monthly infection control reports and present findings to management.
- Follow up on corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

Biomedical Waste Management

- Monitor compliance with biomedical waste segregation and disposal practices.
- Conduct regular inspections and training on waste management protocols.
