Reporting To: Plant Head / Operations Head / Management

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Quality Controller Manager to oversee and manage all quality control and quality assurance activities across the manufacturing process. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring that raw materials, production processes, finished products, packaging, storage, and hygiene standards comply with company specifications and applicable food safety regulations.

The role requires strong knowledge of FSSAI, GMP, HACCP, food safety standards, quality systems, documentation, audits, and team management.

Key Responsibilities

1. Quality Control & Inspection

- Monitor quality at every stage of production, from raw materials to finished products.
- Establish and maintain quality standards, specifications, and inspection procedures.
- Conduct regular inspections and sampling of raw materials, packaging materials, in-process products, and finished goods.
- Ensure products meet defined quality, safety, taste, appearance, and specification requirements.
- Identify quality deviations and take appropriate corrective actions.

2. Food Safety & Compliance

- Ensure compliance with FSSAI, GMP, HACCP, FSMS, and other applicable food safety requirements.
- Develop, implement, and maintain food safety procedures and quality systems.
- Monitor hygiene, sanitation, pest control, personal hygiene, and housekeeping standards.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and traceability of raw materials and finished products.
- Stay updated with changes in food safety regulations and industry standards.

3. Quality Documentation

- Maintain quality records, inspection reports, test reports, batch records, and other relevant documentation.
- Review and approve QC reports and documentation.
- Develop and maintain SOPs, checklists, specifications, and quality manuals.
- Ensure proper documentation and traceability for all batches.

4. Production Quality Monitoring

- Work closely with the Production team to monitor quality parameters during manufacturing.
- Ensure production processes follow approved SOPs and quality standards.
- Investigate process deviations, defects, and quality failures.




- Conduct root cause analysis and implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Monitor product consistency and minimize rejection, wastage, and quality complaints.

5. Laboratory & Testing

- Supervise routine quality testing of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products.
- Ensure testing is carried out according to approved specifications and procedures.
- Coordinate with external laboratories for microbiological, chemical, or other required testing.
- Review laboratory test results and take appropriate action in case of non-conformance.

6. Supplier & Raw Material Quality

- Establish quality standards for raw materials and packaging materials.
- Coordinate with Purchase and suppliers regarding quality-related issues.
- Evaluate supplier quality performance.
- Handle incoming material inspection and rejection of non-conforming materials.
- Support supplier audits and quality improvement initiatives.

7. Customer Complaints & Quality Issues

- Investigate customer complaints related to product quality.
- Conduct root cause analysis and identify corrective actions.
- Coordinate with Production, R&D;, Sales, and other departments to resolve quality issues.
- Maintain complaint records and monitor recurring quality problems.

8. Audit Management

- Plan and conduct internal quality and hygiene audits.
- Coordinate external, customer, regulatory, and certification audits.
- Ensure timely closure of audit observations and non-conformities.
- Maintain audit documentation and compliance records.

9. Team Management

- Lead and supervise the Quality Control team.
- Allocate responsibilities and monitor team performance.
- Train QC staff on quality procedures, food safety, hygiene, SOPs, and testing methods.
- Conduct regular training and awareness programs for production and quality staff.
- Ensure proper manpower planning for QC activities.

10. Continuous Improvement

- Identify opportunities to improve product quality and manufacturing processes.
- Reduce product rejection,



rework, wastage, and customer complaints.
- Implement quality improvement initiatives and process controls.
- Work with Production and Operations teams to improve overall process efficiency and product consistency.

Required Skills

- Strong knowledge of Food Quality Control & Quality Assurance
- Good understanding of FSSAI regulations
- Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, FSMS, and food safety practices
- Strong knowledge of QC testing and inspection procedures
- Root Cause Analysis and CAPA
- Internal and external audit management
- SOP preparation and implementation
- Quality documentation and reporting
- Supplier quality management

- Basic to advanced knowledge of MS Excel and MS Office

Educational Qualification

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Dairy Technology, or a related field.
- Additional certification in HACCP, Food Safety, ISO 22000, or Internal Auditing will be an advantage.

Experience

- 58 years of relevant experience in Quality Control / Quality Assurance in the FMCG, food, beverage, dairy, or food manufacturing industry.
- Prior experience in a Quality Manager / QC Manager / QA Manager / Senior Quality Controller role is preferred.
- Experience managing a QC team and handling audits is highly desirable.

The candidate should be capable of independently managing the Quality Control function, identifying quality risks, ensuring regulatory compliance, leading audits, and working closely with Production and Operations teams to maintain consistent product quality.
