Job Title: Counter Sales Executive
Employment Type: Full-time
Work Schedule: 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM (6 days in a week, 1 day week off)
Work Location: Grameen Bharat Emporium (An Initiative of AVACreations Social Impact Foundation), Opposite Mountain Shadow, Azara, Guwahati – 781 015
Compensation: ₹10,000 – ₹12,000 per month (Gross / CTC, inclusive of ESIC & EPF benefits)

About the Initiative
Grameen Bharat Emporium, initiated by the AVACreations Social Impact Foundation, promotes sustainable rural livelihoods by connecting grassroots artisans and farming communities from the North Eastern Region (NER) directly with urban and conscious consumers. The store showcases authentic, GI-tagged, and indigenous products—from handloom textiles and cane/bamboo crafts to organic agro-produce.
Role Overview
The Counter Sales Executive serves as an ambassador and storyteller for the North East’s rich craft and agricultural heritage. Working during our core retail floor hours (12:00 PM to 8:00 PM), the executive is responsible for customer engagement, product storytelling, POS billing, merchandise presentation, and daily inventory upkeep.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Cultural Storytelling
- Greet visitors and guide them through distinct regional collections:
- Handlooms: Explain weaves, regional motifs, and natural silk varieties such as Muga, Eri, Pat, Ryndia, Naga shawls, and Mekhela Chador.
- Handicrafts: Share insights on cane and bamboo home utility items, black pottery, Kauna (water hyacinth) craft, sitalpati mats, and tribal woodcrafts.
- Agro-Produce: Educate customers on the medicinal value, source origin, and purity of products such as Lakadong turmeric, Bhut Jolokia, specialty forest honeys, orthodox/green teas, and bamboo shoot preserves.
- Recommend curated gift hampers combining agro-produce and handicrafts for walk-in shoppers and corporate gifting inquiries.
Store Operations & Merchandising
- Ensure shelves, display units, and presentation tables remain clean, organized, and attractively arranged throughout the afternoon and evening shift.
- Handle delicate silk textiles with proper folding standards and ensure fragile terracotta and bamboo items are carefully displayed and safely packaged.
- Monitor expiration dates, batch numbers, packaging integrity, and airtight storage for all agro-food merchandise.
Billing & Inventory Upkeep
- Process transactions accurately using POS billing systems across cash, cards, and UPI apps.
- Conduct daily start-of-shift and closing inventory reconciliations.
- Assist in receiving incoming stock consignments, verifying price tags/barcodes, and flagging low-stock or damaged items.
Eligibility Criteria & Skills
- Education: Minimum 10+2 (Higher Secondary) or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience: 6 months to 2 years of counter sales experience (prior exposure to retail handlooms, organic food, or handicraft emporiums is an advantage).
- Technical Skills: Basic computer skills and experience operating retail POS/billing software.
- Language & Communication: Fluent in the local language and Hindi; working proficiency in conversational English is desirable to assist visiting tourists and institutional buyers.
- Availability: Available for the regular store shift from 11:00 PM to 8:00 PM , including weekends and peak festive seasons (One day week off)
Remuneration & Benefits
- Monthly Salary: ₹10,000 to ₹12,000 (Inclusive of statutory EPF and ESIC contributions).
- Exposure to social enterprise operations and grassroots artisan community development.
