Job Summary

n

n

We are looking for a skilled GIS Developer – Open Source Technology to design, develop, deploy, and maintain scalable web-based geospatial applications. The candidate will work on interactive mapping solutions, spatial data services, GIS APIs, and enterprise geospatial platforms using modern open-source GIS and web technologies.

Key Responsibilities

n

Design and develop web-based GIS applications, portals, and dashboards.

n

Develop and integrate RESTful APIs for spatial data services.

n

Build interactive mapping interfaces using OpenLayers, Leaflet, Mapbox, or similar libraries.

n

Publish and manage geospatial services such as WMS, WFS, WMTS, GeoJSON, and KML using GeoServer or similar platforms.

n

Work with PostgreSQL/PostGIS for spatial data storage, management, and querying.

n

Perform spatial analysis, geospatial data processing, and coordinate transformations.

n

Optimize GIS applications for large-scale spatial datasets and high-performance requirements.

n

Integrate frontend and backend components into scalable GIS solutions.

n

Work with Angular/React and JavaScript/TypeScript for GIS application development.

n

Debug, test, troubleshoot, and maintain GIS applications.

n

Follow Git/version control and software development best practices.

n

Prepare technical documentation, deployment guides, SOPs, and system documentation.

n





Collaborate with UI/UX designers, backend developers, DevOps teams, and other stakeholders.

n

Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate development and improve productivity.

n

Work on emerging GIS technologies including real-time geospatial processing, AI/ML, 3D/WebGL GIS, mobile GIS, and large-scale spatial data processing.

n

Essential Qualification

n

B.E./B.Tech in relevant discipline OR

n

Postgraduate degree in IT/Computer Science or equivalent

n

Essential Skills & Experience

n

Minimum 4 years of qualified experience in GIS application development.

n

Strong hands-on experience with:

n

GeoServer

n

PostgreSQL/PostGIS

n

OGC Standards – WMS, WFS, WMTS

n

OpenLayers / Leaflet / Mapbox

n

JavaScript / TypeScript

n

Angular / React

n

REST APIs

n

Git

n

Strong understanding of GIS application architecture and the complete Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

n

Experience in designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining web-based GIS applications.

n

Desirable Skills

n

Experience with ArcGIS or other enterprise GIS platforms.

n

Knowledge of GeoWebCache and tile caching.

n

Experience in GIS application performance tuning and optimization.

n

Exposure to AWS, Azure, or GCP cloud platforms.

n

Knowledge of Docker/Kubernetes.

n

Understanding of Microservices Architecture.

n

Exposure to DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.

n

Experience working in Agile development environments.

n

Exposure to AI/ML, AI-assisted development tools, 3D/WebGL GIS, real-time GIS, and mobile GIS applications.

n

Experience handling and processing large-scale spatial datasets.
