Job Title: Design Engineer – Automotive Plastic Components

We are looking for an experienced and technically strong Design Engineer with hands-on expertise in CATIA V5 and automotive plastic component design . The ideal candidate will have experience in designing plastic components and assemblies for automotive applications, along with a strong understanding of styling feasibility, tooling, DFM/DFA, GD&T;, and engineering drawings.

Key Responsibilities

n

n
- Design and development of automotive plastic components and assemblies using CATIA V5.
n
- Create and modify 3D models, assemblies, master sections, and detailed engineering drawings .
n
- Perform A-Class surface analysis and evaluate styling feasibility for production.
n
- Conduct tooling feasibility studies , including:
n
- Draft analysis
n
- Core and cavity feasibility
n
- Slider feasibility
n
- Lifter feasibility
n
- Ejection feasibility
n
- Apply DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFA (Design for Assembly) principles for injection-moulded plastic components.
n
- Develop designs considering manufacturability, assembly requirements, quality, cost, and functional performance.
n
- Apply GD&T; principles and ensure compliance with engineering and customer requirements.
n
- Support DFMEA,



FEA/Mold Flow analysis, testing, and validation activities.
n
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams including styling, tooling, manufacturing, quality, testing, and suppliers .
n
- Incorporate design changes based on engineering feedback, validation results, and manufacturing requirements.
n
- Ensure designs meet project timelines, technical specifications, and applicable automotive standards.

Required Technical Skills

n

n
- CATIA V5 – strong proficiency in part design, assembly design, surfacing, and drafting.
n
- Strong experience in automotive plastic component and assembly design .
n
- Knowledge of A-Class surface analysis and styling feasibility .
n
- Strong understanding of injection moulding and tooling feasibility .
n
- Knowledge of draft, core-cavity, slider, lifter, and ejection concepts .
n
- Good understanding of DFM/DFA for injection-moulded plastic components.
n
- Strong knowledge of GD&T;, master sections, and engineering drawings .
n
- Working knowledge of DFMEA .
n
- Exposure to FEA/Mold Flow analysis, testing, and product validation .
n
- Teamcenter/PLM experience is preferred.
n

Experience & Qualification

n

n
- B.E./B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering: 4–5 years of relevant automotive experience
n
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering: Minimum 6 years of relevant automotive experience
n
- Relevant experience in automotive plastic product/component design is required.
