Role Overview

The Machine Shop Supervisor is responsible for managing daily machining operations, ensuring productivity, quality, safety, and cost efficiency in the shop floor. The role requires robust technical expertise in CNC machining and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities1. Production Management
- Plan and supervise daily production activities (VMC, CNC, VTL, HMC machines)
- Ensure production targets, delivery schedules, and quality standards are met
- Monitor machine utilization and reduce downtime

2. Machine & Process Knowledge
- Hands-on understanding of:
- VMC (Vertical Machining Center):
- CNC Turning Centers:
- VTL (Vertical Turning Lathe):
- HMC (Horizontal Machining Center):
- Optimize cutting parameters, tooling selection, and cycle time
- Support CNC programming (G-code basics, tool offsets, setup)

3. GD&T; & Quality Control
- Interpret engineering drawings with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing:
- Ensure adherence to tolerances and quality standards
- Coordinate with QA team for inspection and root cause analysis




- Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)

4. Costing & Process Optimization
- Perform machining cost analysis (cycle time, tooling, labor)
- Reduce scrap, rework, and tooling costs
- Improve OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness)
- Suggest process improvements for cost reduction

5. Team Supervision
- Lead operators, setters, and programmers
- Train workforce on machines, safety, and quality practices
- Assign shifts and monitor performance

6. Maintenance Coordination
- Ensure preventive maintenance of machines
- Coordinate with maintenance team for breakdowns
- Maintain machine health records

7. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to safety standards and PPE usage
- Conduct safety audits and toolbox talks
- Maintain 5S and workplace discipline

Required Skills & Qualifications
- Diploma / B.E. in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 5-10 years experience in machining / CNC shop
- Strong knowledge of VMC, CN
