ABOUT THE ROLE

You will build the acoustic signal processing and machine learning pipeline for an autonomous undersea system. The pipeline ingests hydrophone sensor data, applies spectral analysis and feature extraction, classifies contacts using probabilistic models trained on domain-specific acoustic data, and generates structured alert reports in a defined operational format.

This is a hands-on engineering role. You will write production code, train and validate models on real data, and deploy on resource-constrained target hardware.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and implement an acoustic signal classification pipeline from raw sensor input to structured output
- Train and validate probabilistic classifiers on domain-specific acoustic signature data




- Generate automatic alert reports in a defined operational output format
- Develop mission autonomy state logic for sensor deployment and monitoring modes
- Integrate classification outputs into a multi-node underwater sensor network
- Deploy and optimise models for embedded target hardware
- Support system integration testing and sea trial validation
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- BTech or MTech in Computer Science, Electronics, or Signal Processing
- Hands-on machine learning: Python, PyTorch or TensorFlow, SciPy, NumPy
- Probabilistic sequence classification: Hidden Markov Models, Gaussian Mixture Models, or equivalent
- Experience deploying ML models on embedded or resource-constrained hardware
- Strong digital signal processing fundamentals
BENEFICIAL EXPERIENCE
- Underwater or sonar acoustic signal processing
- DRDO, NPOL Kochi, or naval acoustic research background
- Autonomous underwater vehicle or distributed sensor system experi
