Job Summary

Level 6 will lead the technical development and delivery at Team, Lab and sometimes platform level. They can be a Line Manager who will act as co-lead with the Team PO for overall delivery. In these cases, they will be responsible for overall tech delivery, line management & app ownership alongside their own software engineering output. Others will operate as Individual Contributors, who are specialist experts in particular technology areas and will be narrower and deeper in focus, providing technology leadership, mentoring and guidance.

Responsibilities

- Lead the software engineering squads in delivering high-quality software applications and systems that leverage AI and machine learning to provide personalised experiences for our twenty-six million customers and users.
- Collaborate with the head of engineering, product managers, architects, and other stakeholders to define and execute the software engineering squads roadmap, scope, and deliverables.
- Mentor and coach, the software engineering squad, developing their skills and growth opportunities.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical issues and challenges that arise during the software development lifecycle.
- Deliver technical solutions that can be leveraged across multiple entities across the group.
- Define consumption and integration patterns and data models and contracts.
- Create automation tools for data reconciliation and curation.
- Drive the culture of delivering highly secured and high-quality software.
- Identify and eliminate recurring issues by automating processes.
- Help in adopting best engineering practices like Test Driven Development, code reviews, Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery.

Requirements

- At least 7 years of proven experience in software engineering, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
- Hands-on proven experience of delivering systems design, software development, testing and operational stability.
- Proven experience and knowledge of automation and CI/CD.
- Advanced knowledge of agile methodologies.
- Proficiency in relevant programming languages, frameworks, and technologies, such as Python, Java, Rust, JavaScript, React, Angular, TensorFlow, PyTorch.
- Experience in working with large-scale data sets, data pipelines, and cloud platforms, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience in using distributed systems and event driven architecture.
- Practical experience of Cloud native solutions.
- Advanced knowledge of containers (Docker, Kubernetes) and experience with cloud platforms such as GCP, Azure or AWS.
- Strong experience working with Kafka technologies.
- Computer science fundamentals: a clear understanding of data structures, algorithms, software design, design patterns and core programming concepts.
- Good understating of cloud storage, networking, and resource provisioning.
- Experience of hiring and recognising and developing talents.
- Bachelor s degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.

Preferred qualifications

- Certification in GCP Cloud Architect , Cloud Developer , Professional Data Engineer .
- Certification in Apache Kafka (CCDAK).
- Strong experience in data analysis.
- Proficiency across the data lifecycle.
