Role DescriptionWe are seeking a Wind Turbine Performance & Systems Engineer to focus on the real-world performance, testing, and system integration of small rooftop wind turbines. While aerodynamic design focuses on the blade, this role is critical for evaluating existing turbine systems (such as 1kW and 3kW models), benchmarking physical power curves, and ensuring efficient AC current generation. You will bridge the gap between theoretical aerodynamics and practical, operational hardware.

Key Responsibilities

- System Benchmarking: Test and evaluate existing small wind turbine systems, measuring real-world output against manufacturer specifications.
- Power Curve & TSR Validation: Calculate and validate actual power curves and operational Tip Speed Ratios (TSR) in field conditions using sensor data.
- Electrical Integration: Oversee the electrical characteristics of the turbine, particularly focusing on AC current generation, turbine controllers, and secure wiring considerations for rooftop setups.
- Data Logging & Analysis:



Integrate high-speed data loggers and sensors to capture operational metrics (wind speed, RPM, voltage, current) with high precision for performance analysis.
- Site Assessment: Evaluate rooftop environments for optimal structural mounting and wind resource availability, accounting for urban turbulence.

Required Skills & QualificationsSkill / Competency

Description

System Testing & Validation

Hands-on experience in field testing, hardware benchmarking, and validating mechanical/electrical systems.

Data Acquisition

Experience setting up data loggers (e.g., DAQ systems, microcontrollers) and analyzing sensor data to derive power curves.

Electrical Systems Knowledge

Understanding of AC power generation, turbine controllers, and wiring practices for renewable energy systems.

Data Analysis

Ability to process raw field data into actionable insights, utilizing tools like Python, Excel, or MATLAB.
