JD: Piping Design Engineer (PTC Onshape / Creo / Solidworks)

Summary

We are seeking a technically sound Piping system Design Engineer to support Design & engineering of piping systems for data centre liquid cooling and mechanical infrastructure. The role involves detailed 3D piping layout, 3D piping modelling, piping routing, fabrication/spool drawings, BOM development, stress analysis coordination, and adherence to recognised piping design codes, working closely with mechanical, structural and project engineering teams.

Experience in data centre cooling, HVAC, Chilled water, Refrigeration, or similar mechanical infrastructure is preferred. Candidates with strong piping design experience from Oil & Gas/process piping industries may also be considered.

Roles and Responsibilities

- Develop piping layout drawings, isometrics, and routing plans for data centre liquid cooling loops.
- Prepare piping general arrangement (GA) drawings, P&IDs; support drawings, Fabrication drawings
- Interpret P&IDs;, piping schematics, engineering sketches and equipment layouts and translate them into accurate 3D piping models.
- Perform piping routing studies considering equipment layout, structural constraints, accessibility and maintainability.
- Consider installation, fabrication, weldability, maintenance clearances and design-for-manufacturability requirements during piping routing and modelling.
- Coordinate pipe stress analysis requirement, work with Stress analysis team to resolve support and routing conflicts.
- Prepare & update Bills of Material (BOM) for piping components, fittings, valves, supports & accessories.
- Develop fabrication and spool drawings including relevant dimensions, component information and fabrication requirements.
- Ensure all designs comply with applicable piping codes, client specifications and project QA/QC requirements.
- Coordinate with structural, HVAC, electrical and BIM teams to resolve multi-discipline clashes.
- Participate in design reviews, document design changes.
- Maintain project documentation,



revision control and traceability of design deliverables
- Support design development from initial sketches/schematics through 3D modelling, design review and final fabrication-ready deliverables.

- Software Tool expertise in
- Strong knowledge in PTC Onshape in piping design is preferable
- PTC Creo / SolidWorks candidates with strong piping design knowledge will also be considered.
- Navisworks or equivalent for clash detection
- Revit/BIM exposure preferred.
- CAESAR II basic understanding of pipe stress analysis outputs.
- Codes & Standards expertise in
- ASME section VIII / B31.3 / B31.1 / B31.8, ISO 16232, DIN, AWS,
- ASTM / ANSI standards for pipe, fittings, flanges and material specifications as applicable.
- Understanding of material selection for commonly used piping materials such as stainless steel, carbon steel and other applicable materials.
- Understanding of applicable pipe sizing, fitting selection, valve selection and piping support requirements.

Required Qualifications

- BE Mechanical Engineering degree from an accredited 4-year university or college.
- 5 to 8 years experience in Piping system design in Industries namely

1. Data Centre / Liquid Cooling Preferred.
2. HVAC / chilled water systems/ refrigeration Preferred
3. Oil & Gas / Process Piping Considered

- Demonstrated ability to analyse and resolve problems.
