JD: Pipe Stress Analysis Engineer
Summary
Pipe stress Analysis engineer will be responsible to perform comprehensive piping stress analysis for Industrial process piping systems in accordance with ASME B31.3 Process Piping code. This role is central to ensuring the structural integrity, code compliance, and safe operation of critical fluid distribution networks.
Roles and Responsibilities
Pipe Stress Analysis
- Perform static and agile pipe stress analysis using CAESAR II for primary and secondary fluid network headers, branch piping, and rack-level manifold systems
- Execute load case analysis covering sustained (SUS), thermal expansion (EXP), and occasional (OCC) load cases per ASME B31.3.
- Set up and solve load case combinations including operating conditions, seismic (static equivalent and response spectrum), pressure surge, and water hammer.
- Apply directional seismic vectors with ASCE 7 100-70-70 combination rule across all X, Y, Z permutations.
- Evaluate code stress percentages at all nodes and identify governing load cases and critical node locations
System Modelling
- Build 3D piping models in CAESAR II including pipe geometry, elbows, tees, reducers, flanges, and rigid elements.
- Define material properties, operating temperatures, pressures, insulation, and fluid densities for all pipe elements.
- Model support conditions including anchors, guides, spring hangers, and elastic restraints with accurate stiffness (K) values.
- Incorporate restraint stiffness data from physical hardware (clamps, struts, snubbers) into the analytical model.
- Apply uniform load vectors for seismic acceleration inputs derived from site-specific hazard assessments
Code Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure all analysis is performed in strict accordance with ASME B31.3 (current edition) and project-specific design codes.
- Verify allowable stresses: sustained (Sh), expansion (Sa), and occasional (1.33 Sh) against calculated values.
- Produce formal code compliance reports including input data sheets, load case definitions, and PASS/FAIL result tables for all nodes.
- Prepare stress contour plots (sustained, expansion, occasional) for inclusion in project deliverable packages.
- Generate nozzle load reports for pumps, CDUs (Coolant Distribution Units), and pressure vessels and verify against vendor allowable.
Required Qualifications & Character
- BE Mechanical Engineering degree from an accredited 4-year university or college.
- 8 to 10 Years experience in Pipe stress analysis using CAESAR II.
- Knowledge in Ansys for pipe stress analysis will be added advantage.
- Takes strong Initiative, highly proactive, Self-starter, Result oriented, analytical, and able to multi-task.
- Good at Decision making.
- Good command over English in written & spoken communication.
- Excellent teamwork, Good in communication within the team as well as with stake holders
- Strong customer focus approach
- Humble: respectful, receptive, agile, eager to learn
- Transparent: shares critical information, speaks with Candor, contributes constructively
- Focused: Quick learner, strategically prioritizes work, committed
