Role Description This is a contract, on-site Tour Guide role based in Kolkata.

The Tour

Guide will lead individuals and groups through city tours, cultural walks, and festival-focused itineraries, delivering engaging commentary on local history, culture, and traditions.

Responsibilities include welcoming guests, managing tour schedules, coordinating meeting points, and ensuring a smooth, safe, and enjoyable experience throughout the tour.



The role involves answering traveler questions, handling real-time issues or changes, and providing recommendations for local food, shopping, and additional experiences.

The Tour

Guide will also support basic sales-related activities such as promoting upcoming tours and sharing information about Walk Another Mile’s services when appropriate.

Qualifications

- Ability to conduct Guided Tours with confidence, including route planning, group handling, and time management.
- Solid Communication and interpersonal skills to deliver clear explanations and engaging storytelling.
- Customer Service skills to support diverse travelers, manage expectations, and resolve on-ground issues calmly.
- Working knowledge of local History, culture, and festivals, especially related to Kolkata and Durga Puja.
- Basic Sales skills to introduce and promote other tours and services in a respectful, consultative manner.
- Proficiency in English, Hindi and Bengali (additional languages are an advantage).
- Comfort with working outdoors in variable conditions and navigating busy city and festival environments.
- Prior experience as a tour guide, local expert, or in hospitality/travel is preferred.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and festival periods based on tour schedules.
