Job Title: Technical Manager
Job Location: Solan, Himachal Pradesh – Near Shoolini University, Bajhol
Department: Laboratory / Technical
Salary Range: ₹50,000 – ₹60,000 CTC per month
Experience: 6-8 Years (Quality Control) of proven experience in QC within a food testing laboratory
Reports To: Chief Operating Officer/Quality Manager
Note: Robust knowledge of Instrumentation (HPLC, GCMS, ICPOES), food safety standards, ISO 17025, Method Validation & Verification and related regulatory requirements.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
· The Technical Manager will be responsible for the overall technical management, competence, and effective functioning of the Food Testing Laboratory. The position will ensure that all testing activities are performed accurately, reliably, impartially, and in accordance with applicable NABL requirements, ISO/IEC 17025, FSSAI regulations, relevant BIS/ISO/AOAC methods, customer requirements, and applicable statutory requirements.
· The Technical Manager will lead technical operations, method implementation and validation/verification, quality of test results, laboratory competence, equipment performance, technical documentation, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Management
· Overall responsibility for the technical activities of the food testing laboratory.
· Plan, organize, and supervise day-to-day laboratory testing activities.
· Ensure testing is performed using approved, validated/verified, and current test methods.
· Review and approve technical procedures, test methods, worksheets, specifications, and related documents.
· Ensure appropriate allocation of testing work based on analyst competence and authorization.
· Monitor laboratory workload, turnaround time (TAT), and technical performance.
· Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support to laboratory personnel.
2. NABL & ISO/IEC 17025 Compliance
· Ensure laboratory activities comply with the applicable requirements of ISO/IEC 17025 and NABL accreditation criteria.
· Maintain technical competence and scope of accreditation for applicable food testing parameters.
· Support preparation for NABL assessments, surveillance assessments, reassessments, and extension of scope.
· Address technical observations/non-conformities raised during NABL assessments.
· Ensure implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions.
· Maintain technical records required for accreditation and regulatory compliance.
· Participate in internal audits, management reviews, and other laboratory quality activities as required.
3. Quality Control & Reliability of Results
· Establish and monitor appropriate internal quality control (IQC) practices.
· Review control charts and other quality-control indicators.
· Monitor blanks, duplicates, spikes, reference materials, and other QC parameters as applicable.
· Ensure participation in suitable Proficiency Testing (PT) / Inter-Laboratory Comparison (ILC) programs.
· Investigate unsatisfactory PT/ILC performance and implement corrective/preventive actions.
· Monitor trends and identify potential technical problems before they affect customer results.
· Ensure appropriate handling and investigation of questionable or non-conforming test results.
4. Equipment & Laboratory Infrastructure
· Ensure availability and suitability of laboratory equipment and facilities.
· Review equipment qualification, calibration, verification, maintenance, and performance records.
· Ensure equipment is fit for intended use before being placed into service.
