Store Trainer / Faculty – Hotel Management

Department

Hotel Stores & Inventory Management / Hospitality Operations

Job Purpose To provide students with theoretical and practical knowledge of Hotel Store Operations, Purchasing, Receiving, Storage, Inventory Control, and Material Management, ensuring they develop the skills required to work efficiently in hotel stores and hospitality organizations.

Key Responsibilities1. Teaching & Training

- Conduct theory and practical classes related to Hotel Stores and Inventory Management.
- Prepare lesson plans, presentations, demonstrations, and practical exercises.
- Teach topics including:
- Introduction to Hotel Stores
- Purchasing and procurement procedures
- Purchase requisition and purchase orders
- Vendor and supplier management
- Receiving and inspection of goods
- Storekeeping procedures
- Storage and preservation of food and non-food items
- Inventory control
- Stock taking and physical verification
- Bin cards and stock registers
- FIFO and LIFO methods
- Minimum, maximum and reorder levels
- Issue and transfer procedures
- Kitchen and housekeeping stores
- Beverage and general stores
- Perishable and non-perishable items
- Waste and spoilage control
- Basic cost and stock control

1. Practical Training

- Conduct practical sessions in the college Store/Inventory Training Lab.
- Demonstrate receiving, checking, counting, and recording materials.
- Train students in proper storage and labeling techniques.
- Demonstrate preparation of purchase requisitions, purchase orders, goods received notes, and issue records.
- Train students in stock registers, bin cards, inventory sheets, and documentation.
- Conduct mock stock-taking and inventory-control exercises.




- Train students in safe handling and storage of materials.

1. Student Development

- Develop students' knowledge of professional hotel store procedures.
- Improve students' organizational, documentation, and inventory-management skills.
- Prepare students for industrial training, internships, and hotel placements.
- Provide career guidance related to Stores, Purchase, Procurement, and Materials Management.
- Monitor students' practical performance and provide regular feedback.

1. Assessment & Evaluation

- Conduct written tests, practical examinations, assignments, and viva.
- Evaluate students' theoretical and practical knowledge.
- Maintain attendance, practical records, and assessment reports.
- Conduct mock store-management exercises and evaluate student performance.

1. Industry Exposure

- Coordinate industrial visits to hotels and hospitality organizations.
- Arrange demonstrations and guest lectures by hotel purchase/store professionals.
- Develop industry interaction opportunities for students.
- Keep students updated on current hotel purchasing and inventory practices.

1. Administrative Responsibilities

- Maintain Store Training Lab equipment, materials, and inventory.
- Monitor stock levels of training materials.
- Ensure proper documentation and record keeping.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety of the training store.
- Participate in college examinations, seminars, workshops,



events, and placement activities.
- Coordinate with Food Production, Housekeeping, Front Office, and other departments for practical training.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Hotel Management / Hospitality Management.
- Knowledge of Hotel Stores, Purchase, Procurement, or Materials Management.
- Relevant hotel industry experience is preferred.
- Teaching or training experience will be an advantage.

- Strong knowledge of hotel store and inventory procedures.
- Positive organizational and documentation skills.
- Knowledge of purchasing and procurement processes.
- Good communication and presentation skills.
- Practical demonstration and teaching skills.
- Basic computer and inventory-management skills.
- Good numerical and analytical abilities.
- Ability to train and mentor students.

Preferred Experience 0–5 years of experience in Hotel Stores, Purchase, Procurement, Materials Management, or teaching/training in a Hotel Management Institute.

- Student readiness for hotel internships and placements.
- Quality of practical store training.
- Accuracy of inventory and documentation exercises.
