Description hoichoi is hiring a Software Engineer for backend-heavy, AI-native work on its high-traffic streaming platform. The role sits at the core of revenue infrastructure, including payments, subscriptions, and scalable backend systems.

Role: Software Engineer (Backend + AI Native)

Location: Kolkata (West Bengal) | On-site

Experience

- 3–7 years
- 3–7+ years of backend engineering experience
- Production ownership of at least one user-facing system
- Experience in a quick-moving product team with changing requirements and priorities
- Default user of AI coding tools on real shipped features
- Concrete example of AI-generated code that was evaluated, debugged, or overridden
- Comfort with ambiguity and independent decision-making

Responsibilities

- Own end-to-end technical decisions across a live, high-traffic streaming platform
- Design, ship, and scale backend systems
- Define API contracts, data models, service boundaries, and integration patterns
- Think architecturally and lead trade-off conversations
- Document decisions for the broader team
- Lead technical design reviews for new capabilities
- Diagnose and resolve production issues across backend systems
- Write clean fixes and prevent recurrence through design choices
- Partner with product, growth, content, and data teams to translate requirements into backend solutions
- Contribute to hoichoi Cortex by designing API contracts and data flows
- Review code to be readable, testable, and defensible

Additional Responsibilities

- Revenue infrastructure ownership across payment orchestration and subscription lifecycle




- Evaluate and integrate third-party services, LLM APIs, and external tools
- Surface risks, edge cases, and cross-system dependencies before implementation
- Maintain a high-traffic live platform serving millions of users
- Work within small, cross-functional teams
- Direct exposure to product and growth discussions
- Ship fast, measure what works, and iterate
- Support sustainable pace while handling big moments

Nice To Have

- Familiarity with streaming or media tech such as CDNs, adaptive bitrate, DRM, or video processing pipelines
- Experience with event-driven architectures
- Experience with message queues such as Kafka, SQS, or RabbitMQ
- Experience with distributed microservices
- Prior work on data pipelines
- Prior work on analytics integrations
- Prior work on internal developer tooling
- Exposure to LLM APIs
- Exposure to prompt engineering
- Exposure to AI-augmented product features shipped to real users
- Active GitHub or portfolio required for skill evaluation
