Position - Mechanical Technician
Qualification - Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
1. Job Purpose
Responsible for the mechanical operation, deployment, recovery, inspection and first-level maintenance of the Aerostat and its associated ground equipment during field operations.
2. Key Responsibilities
• Carry out Aerostat site setup, deployment, tethering, recovery, dismantling and packing activities.
• Operate and maintain winches, gears, drums, pulleys, tether-handling systems and other mechanical assemblies used during field operations.
• Perform pre-operation and post-operation inspections for alignment, wear, loose fasteners, abnormal vibration, tether winding and mechanical damage.
• Carry out first-level mechanical troubleshooting and minor field maintenance, and report faults requiring higher-level intervention.
• Maintain equipment condition, inspection records and field maintenance/operation logs.
• Coordinate with the Electrical Technician during deployment,
operation and recovery while following approved procedures and safety requirements.
3. Required Knowledge and Skills
• Practical knowledge of winches, gears, pulleys, drums, bearings, shafts, fasteners and basic mechanical systems.
• Ability to read basic mechanical drawings and equipment manuals and use common mechanical tools.
• Ability to identify mechanical abnormalities and perform basic field troubleshooting.
• Willingness and ability to work at outdoor field locations and participate in complete Aerostat operations.
4. Field Operations Requirement
This is a field-oriented Aerostat operations position. The technician is expected to participate in site setup, deployment, operation, monitoring, recovery, dismantling, inspection, packing and associated field records.
