Role Summary

Seeking an experienced Analytics Engineer with strong expertise in SQL, Snowflake, dbt, and dimensional data modeling. The role focuses on designing scalable analytics data models, building trusted reporting datasets, supporting enterprise BI initiatives, and enabling Power BI semantic models through robust analytics engineering practices.

- This engagement is a analytics modernization initiative aimed at establishing a Trusted Data Layer (TDL) that serves as the single source of truth for enterprise reporting and analytics. The Analytics Engineer will play a critical role in designing scalable Fact and Dimension models that support the migration of business reports from QlikSense, SAP BusinessObjects, and Posit to Power BI.
- The role will work closely with client business stakeholders, data teams, and architects to understand reporting requirements, build trusted analytical datasets. In parallel, the Analytics Engineer will coordinate with the WinWire Power BI migration team to ensure the TDL models align with Power BI semantic layer requirements and enable a seamless report migration experience.

What You’ll Do

- Customer & Architecture:
- Lead requirement gathering discussions with business stakeholders and translate needs into scalable implementation
- Guide SSDEs and coordinate with Architects
- Snowflake :
- Strong hands on SQL using CTEs, joins, subqueries, and window functions
- experience in databases, schemas, tables, views, and warehouses
- Implement data load/unload using external stages and file formats (CSV, JSON, PARQUET)
- Advanced experience in query tuning and performance optimization
- Implementation of materialized views, Snowpipe, external tables, and secure data sharing
- Handling semi-structured data (VARIANT, OBJECT, ARRAY) and implementing data masking and row access policies
- Development of stored procedures, UDFs, external functions, and configuration of resource monitors for cost control
- dbt:
- - Develop and maintain dbt models following analytics engineering best practices

- - Implement incremental models, snapshots, tests, and documentation

- - Experience with dbt lineage, model dependencies, exposures, and deployment practices

- - Apply testing frameworks including unique, not null, accepted values, and custom tests

- Data Warehouse / BI:
- - Design and implement Medallion / Star Schema aligned data models





- - Build reusable Gold-layer datasets and semantic models for analytics consumption

- - Experience Supporting BI migration (from QlikSense / SAP BO)

- - Ensure data quality, performance, lineage, and governance standards

- Power BI & Semantic Models:
- - Design analytics-ready models supporting Power BI semantic layers

- - Understand table relationships, filter propagation, grain alignment, and reporting performance

- - Partner with BI teams to validate measures, metrics, and reporting requirements

- - Support migration of reports and dashboards to Power BI

- Data Quality & Validation:
- - Design validation strategies and reconciliation checks

- - Ensure analytical correctness and trusted reporting datasets

- Architecture & Collaboration:
- - Work with Analytics Engineers, Data Engineers, Data Analysts, and Architects to align modeling approaches

- - Participate in design reviews and recommend optimal modeling solutions

- - Document modeling decisions, assumptions, business rules, and usage guidance

Must-Have Skills

- 5+ years of hands-on experience in SQL development, data transformation, and analytics engineering
- 3+ years of experience working with Snowflake Data Warehouse
- 3+ years of experience with dbt model development, testing, and documentation
- Solid experience designing and implementing Fact and Dimension models using Star Schema principles
- Experience refactoring analytical datasets into reusable dimensional models
- Strong understanding of reporting, BI, and semantic layer requirements
- Experience supporting Power BI reporting and semantic models
- Experience working with business stakeholders, analysts, and BI teams to define metrics and reporting requirements
- Strong knowledge of data quality, reconciliation, and model validation approaches
- Experience with Git, code reviews, CI/CD concepts, and Agile delivery methodologies
