Position Overview:

Mithros is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Process Chemist with strong expertise in Flow Chemistry / Continuous Manufacturing to join our Process Research & Development team for newly Build Facilty. The successful candidate will lead the development, optimization and scale-up of chemical processes using continuous-flow and flow-based technologies, while also supporting conventional batch process development. This role is ideal for a chemist who enjoys solving challenging process problems and translating laboratory chemistry into safe, robust, scalable and commercially viable processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Flow Chemistry & Process Development

- Design, develop and optimize chemical reactions using continuous-flow technology.
- Translate batch reactions into continuous-flow processes where technically and commercially advantageous.
- Optimize reaction parameters including residence time, temperature, pressure, flow rate, concentration, stoichiometry and mixing.
- Evaluate different reactor technologies and flow configurations.

Process Optimization & Scale-Up

- Develop robust and scalable processes from milligram/gram scale through kilogram and pilot scale.
- Establish process understanding using Design of Experiments (DoE) and systematic parameter optimization.
- Improve yield, selectivity, productivity, impurity profile and overall process economics.
- Develop continuous processes with improved safety, productivity and reduced solvent/raw-material consumption.
- Identify opportunities for process intensification and automation.

Process Safety

- Assess reaction hazards and identify opportunities where flow chemistry can improve process safety.
- Work with calorimetry and reaction-safety data to define safe operating windows.
- Develop processes for hazardous reagents and intermediates using appropriate containment and engineering controls.
- Contribute to HAZOP/process safety assessments for flow systems.
- Equipment & Technology Development
- Select and evaluate flow reactors, pumps, mixers,



heat exchangers, back-pressure regulators and related equipment.
- Develop and commission laboratory and pilot-scale flow chemistry equipment.
- Troubleshoot flow systems including Blockages, Precipitation, Fouling, Pressure fluctuations, Pumping/mixing problems, Heat-transfer limitations, Gas–liquid mass-transfer issues
- Develop integrated reaction–work-up systems where appropriate.

Downstream Processing

- Develop compatible continuous or semi-continuous downstream operations, including Quenching, Liquid–liquid extraction, Crystallization, Precipitation, Filtration, Solvent exchange, Distillation
- Evaluate integration of reaction and purification steps into continuous processes.

Scale-Up & Technology Transfer

- Translate laboratory flow processes to pilot and production scale.
- Establish scale-up strategies based on residence time, mixing, heat transfer and mass-transfer characteristics rather than straightforward volume scaling.
- Prepare process descriptions, experimental protocols, batch/flow records and technology-transfer packages.
- Support manufacturing teams and external partners during process implementation.

Client & Project Responsibilities

- Lead technical discussions with clients on process chemistry and flow technology.
- Prepare technical proposals, project plans, timelines and resource estimates.
- Present process-development results to clients and internal management.
- Identify opportunities where flow chemistry can provide a significant advantage in cost, safety, quality, speed or scalability.

Required Qualifications

- PhD in Organic Chemistry or Process Chemistry.
- Typically,



5–8+ years of industrial experience in process chemistry, process development or continuous-flow chemistry.
- Strong hands-on experience with flow chemistry / continuous processing.
- Demonstrated experience in taking chemical processes from laboratory development toward larger scale.
- Strong understanding of reaction kinetics, mass transfer, heat transfer and process engineering principles.
- Experience with process analytical techniques and analytical characterization.
- Good knowledge of organic chemistry and synthetic methodology.
- Strong problem-solving and experimental-design capabilities.
- Ability to work independently and lead technical projects.
