Engagement Objective

Deliver expert-level Cloud Infrastructure Operations, Optimization, Management, and Security across a multi-cloud environment. The Cloud Operations Engineer will ensure high availability, cost efficiency, robust security posture, and seamless automation across the organization's entire infrastructure footprint.

Core Responsibilities

Task 1: Multi-Cloud Infrastructure & Security Management

· Compute & Orchestration: Provision, manage, and optimize compute workloads across GCP (Compute Engine, Google Kubernetes Engine) and Azure (Virtual Machines, AKS).

· Networking & Connectivity:

o Design, deploy, and maintain VPCs, VNets, subnets, IP allocation schemes, and Load Balancers.

o Configure and maintain secure cross-environment connectivity, including Client VPNs and Site-to-Site IPsec VPN tunnels to on-premises infrastructure.

· Storage Administration: Oversee scalable object and block storage solutions using GCP Cloud Storage and Azure Blob Storage.

· Identity & Access Security: Enforce least-privilege principles using GCP IAM and Azure RBAC; manage data encryption (at rest and in transit), firewall rules, and secrets via Key Vaults and GCP Secret Manager.

Task 2: Automation, Monitoring & Log Analytics

· Monitoring & APM: Manage and optimize Datadog configurations across all cloud environments for unified logging, metrics, and application performance monitoring.

· Proactive Alerting: Design and refine alert thresholds to detect health degradation early and prevent unplanned downtime.

· Infrastructure as Code (IaC):



Automate end-to-end environment provisioning, updates, and drift management using Terraform.

Task 3: Cloud Financial Operations (FinOps)

· Cost Tracking: Continuously analyze spend using GCP Billing, Azure Cost Management, and native AWS billing tools.

· Resource Optimization: Implement rightsizing policies, auto-scaling thresholds, Committed Use Discounts (CUDs), Reserved Instances (RIs), and Savings Plans.

· Reporting: Deliver regular cost-analysis reports paired with actionable reduction strategies to executive stakeholders.

Task 4: Backup & Disaster Recovery (DR)

· Backup Management: Audit automated backup routines and enforce regional and cross-region retention policies.

· Data Resilience: Configure automated snapshots, object versioning, and geo-redundant storage replication.

· DR Execution: Plan, document, and execute periodic DR drills to validate defined RTO and RPO metrics.

Task 5: Governance, Architecture & Collaboration

· Cross-Functional Alignment: Partner with enterprise architects, internal on-premise infrastructure teams, and external cloud vendors.

· Repository Governance: Maintain central, version-controlled code repositories (IaC, automation scripts) across all business units.

· Architecture & POCs: Evaluate emerging technologies and lead Proofs of Concept (POCs) for contemporary infrastructure enhancements.

· Operational Documentation: Standardize operational knowledge by authoring and updating SOPs, runbooks, and architectural diagrams.
